Need someone to install shocks near San Jose

Need someone to install shocks near San Jose - 10/12/03 11:22 PM

I just ordered 4 new Bilsteins from eshocks.com and am hoping to find a private party to install them for much less than a shop would charge.

I have neither the tools or the know-how to do it myself. I know the job requires the removal of two wheels and a torque wrench.

Please feel free to email me directly at mlobach@yahoo.com.

Thanks!

I hear the beginnings of a South Bay Mod Day.

If you have some space/garage I'm sure someone in the south bay could give you a hand. Heck, if you are willing to get dirty and do some work I'll come over and help (I'll bring tools if you don't have them), it would just have to wait till after Pine Scented Tree Day (Christmas). smile It's a very easy 2 hour job (taking your time).

BTW, welcome to the club.

Hey Winedogger...

When I received my Bilstein shocks, I installed all four shocks in less than an hour, with hand tools.

It's a really easy job...The back shocks are remove and replace, with no jacks...10 minutes.

The front shocks are a little more difficult...gotta remove your front wheels, and use a hydraulic jack for this, it will save alot of time. Once they are removed, it's remove and replace.

I also replaced my front sway bar bushings while the tires were removed...That added about 10 minutes to the job.

Check around, most auto stores have 60 pc, 100 pc, or 150 pc tool kits & hydraulic jacks on sale all the time.

One of the best investments I've ever made for my X.

Good Luck,

Thanks guys. I had hoped to have them installed for my X-Mas ski run, but eShocks is now telling me the rears are backordered.

Huey, you are a good guy, I may take you up on that. You would, at least, score good beer (or wine) out of it.
