Barney Riley Trail / Fri July 16th & Sun July 18th!!!

Hey Everyone,

Olebiker is planning a trip to Barney Riley on Friday July 16th thru Sunday July 18th.

Below are the details and the post I made on the North American Xterra Club Message Board:

For those of you leaving on Saturday, we'll be meeting at the McDonalds in Pleasanton at 8:00am Saturday Morning.

Hey Olebiker,

Count me in for this trip. Although, Debgary & I won't be able to arrive until 8:00pm at the Loope Trail Head on Friday.

So, I'll be there then...Hopefully, Debgary, Xsal, Huey, & Patrickmb will be joining me for this trip as well!

If all goes well, I will guide them thru the BRT trail to our campsite on Friday.

For those of us arriving on Friday & Saturday, we will be using FRS Channel: 7 Subcode:0 and CB Channel: 40!

Olebiker, listen for us arriving Friday night & Saturday morning on those channels...OK? Or, you can meet us all at the Loope Trail Head @ 8:00pm Friday! and Saturday morning @ 12noon!

sweet.... BRT here we come.

Hey Patrickmb,

We don't need to be at the Loope trail head right at 11:00am...That's just a guess of how long it might take to get there...I suspect it'll take at least 4 hours...So our arrival time would be between 11:30am to 12:30pm.

Just spoke with Debgary at In-&-Out tonight at our monthly club get together. We were actually discussing departing after work on Friday at 3:00pm from Mountain View. That way, we could make it to the loope trail head by 8:00pm. Then a few hours of the trail before we get to the campsite.

If you are interested in joining us on Friday, let me know.
Hopefully you'll be able to leave work an hour or two early...

Huey, Akio, & Dean mentioned they still might attend this trip, but I think they are still undecided so far. Hopefully they'll decide to join us this weekend. I should hear something from them by Tuesday or Wednesday, if they are going to attend BRT or not.

There is no need to worry about off-roading lights for BRT...Your headlights & your fog lights will give you plenty of light for any night driving...

Just for completeness.... there will be 4 or 5 trucks coming up Saturday, arriving at the camp in the afternoon. Among the drivers will be me, Huey, Matt, Akio/Catherine. See you guys there!!

Olebiker and debgary climbed the "ledge" after clearing a new path. It took me a couple of runs to get over it including a couple of 3 wheel teeters to reposition myself. Thank goodness for that front LSD, almost a front locker. How'd the rest of the gang do?

We had to do a bit of rock stacking for a couple of the trucks, but had no major problems. Most people went up the left hand side staying high on the rocks, I went up the right hand side with significant front wheel spin.

After that it was a pretty easy and picturesque trip back to the paved road.
