Re: Mod Day IV - 16/09/03 06:02 AM

I should be able to pick up a body lift by then... I'm down... also need to change all my fluids, and could sure use a little assistance... I'm pretty good at wiring and electrical, I'd be happy to help with that...
*edit* hey Roger... I can pull wheels like no one else!!! wanna do a body lift? laugh

Re: Mod Day IV - 16/09/03 08:34 AM

Kraig, the body lift will go easier now that we have one under our belts smile Now all we need is a date and place. I am open for my place if it's soon. My place is for sale and I will be moveing soon. Just down the road a bit but new house will not be available for working out of yet.

Scott, set it up and we will follow smile

Roger when did you decide to buy a new house? I remember you hinting that you were thinking about it but never heard anything concrete.

You guys are welcome to have it at my place again if you want.

Re: Mod Day IV - 16/09/03 01:03 PM

How about the weekend of October 11th?

Also, can we perhaps limit the amount of trucks this time? I think we over did ourselves at the last Mod Day as we did not get everything finished. Nea, yea? Of course, if we have tons of helpers, we can do more. Just my toughts, machs nichs to me.

Right now we have me, Roger, Kraig and of course Chris if he has anything (as he is hosting).

Roger and Kraig - U guys up for the 11th?
Posted by: austinbrtndr

Re: Mod Day IV - 17/09/03 06:14 AM

11th sounds good to me... hopefully I can get everything in by then... even if not, I'll make it up there for a fluid change and to help out where I can...
Hey Chris... thanks for letting us use your place again... it'll be nice to finally meet some other members...

The 4th would actually be perfect for me. I'm planning on being in Dallas for that evening anyway. Sounds great!

You have anything to do on your truck Jason, or just gonna hang out?

That's about all I had in mind. If I'm feeling adventurous, I might look at re-wiring my lights (I did a hack job the first time).

Scott, you already know the 4th is better for me smile

Jason... Caravan? you name the time as you have an earlier start time smile

I have my daughter that weekend, so I can't make it then... I have her first and third weekends... plus that cuts a week off my order time, and I'm still trying to scrape extra cash together... you guys go ahead, though... I'll work something else out, or just make it to the next one...

*edit* You guys suck! [Crybaby] [Finger]

Re: Mod Day IV - 18/09/03 01:30 PM

Think I may hold off on the lift and install a snorkel first... pulled my filter today and it's nasty... shackles and t-bars should hold me for a bit... hey Jason... you wanna help me tear up my truck?
Posted by: babyX

Re: Mod Day IV - 18/09/03 01:38 PM

Kraig -- when are you getting your new bumper, by the way?
Posted by: austinbrtndr

Re: Mod Day IV - 18/09/03 01:57 PM

Dunno... ask Jim... ordered it the end of last month... he said about 3-4 weeks... soon, hopefully... my truck looks like butt with that mangled bumper... I'm soooo ready! That thing is super cool! Gonna make a huge difference! (had to say something nice in case Jim's reading this laugh )

I'd like to come to the Mod Day if I can make it... just to meet some folks, hang out... maybe help if needed.

Anyone got directions to 2001frontier's place? Time to meet there etc?
Posted by: surfingteacher

Re: Mod Day IV - 29/09/03 03:11 PM

I would like to stop by, maybe help, maybe point and laugh and drink beer. Directions and time? I'm coming from Richardson, 75 and 635 if that helps any.

Re: Mod Day IV - 29/09/03 05:29 PM

Plano area folk. We can meet at the Wal-Mart on Spring Creek and 75 at say 0810 Saturday morning.

SurfTeach - Can you meet us at Courtesy Nissan?
Posted by: wkc160

Re: Mod Day IV - 29/09/03 09:55 PM

Scott I'll meet you at the Walmart. I need to do some more electrical stuff...I'd like to run a fused 8 or 10 gauge power cable to a power block underneath the stereo for future eletcronics installs.

I'd like to also run a 8 or 10 gauge wire to the rear so I can set up my inverter and wire up some wall sockets into the plastic panels. I hope I have enough time.

Re: Mod Day IV - 30/09/03 06:21 AM

Ram, Courtesy Nissan is north of me. I am actually between Beltline and SpringValley, so I can just meet you at the Wal-Mart at 8:10. What corner of the parking lot?

As my dad says.. It is better to be a smartass than a dumbass. smile

The NE corner closest to Spring Creek. My truck is yellow, so we will be easy to find.

Oh, you did notice we are meeitng at Spring CREEK, not Spring Valley. I offered Courtesy Nissan as it is far closer to you than 75 and Spring Creek, but we will wait at the WalMart for ya.

I know we get to mangle your fender to install it! I have a body saw that should work well for that. If not my jigsaw will. cool

Could we please leave the term "mangle" out? [Uh Oh !] HERE\'S a pretty good write up on an install... look do-able?

Hehehe. If Carlton can do it, a group of guys like us should be able to. I am sure it comes with instructions anyway. Maybe he can chime in with any pointers from when his was installed.

Chris, wanna do lunch next week so I can see what you did to your truck?

Re: Mod Day IV - 30/09/03 11:49 AM

Sure. We can do that. I won't have my tires until the week after that though, so it is probably going to look like poopoo with my bald donuts on there.

Anyone got a hole saw?
Posted by: 2001frontier

Re: Mod Day IV - 30/09/03 01:32 PM

What size? Is that what you want to use to cut through the fender? If so, and no one has one, make sure you buy a good bimetal one. I probably have the base part of the saw that screws into the hole saw itself.

Probably the Dunlop MT's as they are pretty cheap and rated almost as good as the BFG's
Posted by: Anonymous

Re: Mod Day IV - 01/10/03 04:54 PM

Actually, as stated in a independent research test they concluded that the Dunlap MT tires (last year) were rate best overall for the price when compaired against the other tire manufactures [Smoking] that make the same class tire but only charging a whole lot more for them.

See you guys on Saturday!

Re: Mod Day IV - 01/10/03 06:47 PM

I have a 4" hole saw...but I do not have the bit that goes in it. I have the outside portion and the chuck , but it needs a small bit to go in it...
Posted by: 2001frontier

Re: Mod Day IV - 02/10/03 07:18 AM

I am going to go with the Dunlops as well. The only thing that concerns me are the sidewalls durability.

I've had several Jeep friends run the Dunlops becuase of the price, and they never had any complaints... last guy I saw was fixing to buy another set because he had absolutely no tread left... seems like he had them for a few years...

Re: Mod Day IV - 02/10/03 07:59 AM

Sweet. I can get five of them in 33x12.5 with a new rim for the spare for a little less than four BFG MTs in 33x12.50.

Re: Mod Day IV - 02/10/03 01:46 PM

ok... snorkel just came in... this looks like fun! Hole saw needed is 86mm which converts to 3.386"? Looks like rest of holes will be 14mm (.5512")... Looks like this, too, was built for the Navara... Anyone know if they make an 86mm hole saw?
*edit* just went to Home Depot... same as 3.5"... anyone got? Part is $15 and I will never use again, so if I don't have to buy it, I'd rather not...

Re: Mod Day IV - 03/10/03 04:58 PM

All i have is the 4"... I do have a jig saw, but that can get very very messy unless you have a steady hand.. eek I am going to bring the jig saw and some fine blades anyways..

Re: Mod Day IV - 03/10/03 07:16 PM

Chris - I have the toolbox loaded up and ready to go. It turns out that it is plastic with metal reinforcement. It's a nice box nonetheless. We'll probably get over there around 3 or so. See ya'll then.

I want to thank everyone for their help on Sat... Chris, thanks for the tools... Scott, thanks for the place to crash... Jason(s), thanks for stopping by to WATCH! [Finger] Anyway... anyone get any pics, or just video?

Just video. I did not realize my camera battery was dead.
Posted by: Kaiser

Re: Mod Day IV - 06/10/03 09:30 AM

Keith said he could grab stills from the video - and it's supposed to be an awesome camera.

There should be enough video on there for 4 or 5 good in-progress shots for both the body lift and the snorkel. I don't know when/if he'll do it tho.
