Nissan decal on roof rack

Here's a pic of the X i think i'll be buying tomorrow if everything goes well.. i was wondering.. does the Nissan decal on the roof rack rub off after time or is it supposed to be black on the 2002 SE 4x4?



I kind of like the white decal.. i guess i could have another made.. or do they sell them online? I've done a search and haven't found any as of yet.

White decal was on early models only.

are you sure? I've seen it on all years.. i googled to make sure and some tend to have it and some don't.. but i can't make the distinction on which ones do and don't.. i thought maybe it was some sort of paint job that ends up fading off after time or something.

The 2002 on up should have white lettering. That xterra looks to be a very very early 2002 model as it still has the old style air dam.

hmm.. okay.. thanks for the clarification.. it's just odd because i've seen pictures of the white on the earlier models.

Both have the white lettering.

No big deal.. i've seen yellow custom decals out there, so i'm sure if i care enough afteward, i can figure out a way to get the white up there =)

My X is a late 01 (build date 05/01), no white decal on the air dam.

ahhh.. thanks.. it's hard to tell which trim is which when you're just doing a google image search.. i knew it had to be something that determined which had white and which didn't.

I'm pretty good at figuring out the year by look, but i still need work on the trims =)

Yep, that sure looks like a 2001 and older air dam... maybe previous owner did a Thor mod or such and switched them out?

is that a bad thing?

There were more than a few 02 models that got the original-style air dam.

Yeah I have a early 02 as well, no white letters!

If you really want you can buy them from nissan i think.

Let's see, I took a poll of all the Xterras we've owned or currently own:

2000 XE, 12/00 build date, black lettering.

2002 XE, 08/01 build date, black lettering (on old-style air dam).

2004 XE, 12/04 build date, white lettering.

2004 XE, 11/04 build date, white lettering.

--2006 Xterra OR, in the lower right Quadrant of the fwd air dam is NISSAN in "ghost" white-- --JIMBO

it still bugs me.. i like the white lettering..
