Remove gold plating

I got some gold plating on my X's key hold and emblem. I would like to know how i can get it off without damaging them.

You want to know how to remove the gold plating from the Nissan emblem on your keys? Never had this problem before, as my keys didn't have any shiny on them, just black plastic, but the method I've seen when removing brand names from cell phones is to mix some fine grain sugar (not powdered) with a bit of water to make a slurry and then apply with a toothbrush, this mix should be abrasive enough to remove the plating.

I meant key hole for the lock. But thanks anyway. I used some polish and rubbed the gold off the emblem and the key hole.
