Wanted: Body Lift pics - 08/11/06 07:35 AM

Hey guys, Since i've been working on cars and bikes, I've never, ever taken a short cut... I always go all-out. HOWEVER, I recently sold my 2003 cobra to buy a house, and I'm picking up an Xterra for a daily driver. I'd like to do a little mudding with it, so I'm hoping I can do a low-budget set-up so I can have some fun on the weekends. I'll most likely run stock wheels with All Weathers during my commute, but throw some bigger tires, maybe wheel spacers for the weekends. I am not looking to do hardcore off roading (yet) so I am thinking of just doing a 2" BL and a set of 33's or something.

Anybody have pics of Body Lift Only trucks?
Pics of blue xterras are good too.

I have read up in the susp. and tire forums about the PML, and BL, and just looking for some pics.

I did search, but there's like one pic for every 10 results. i don't see the harm in posting up, it's not like these ar high-traffic forums. In the first page of "pictures" posts, there's a weeks worth of threads... im not getting in the way of anything important.

Re: Wanted: Body Lift pics - 08/11/06 05:36 PM

I know you asked for body lift only but this is all I have to offer. I was running a 3" bl and a 3" sl with 33x12.50.

Re: Wanted: Body Lift pics - 08/11/06 07:01 PM

You know, if you do a 3" susp. lift and a 2" body lift, you can fit 35s on there with some "trimming" wink

Of course, when you get around to doing a SAS, and you will do an SAS laugh , you'll already have tires that are the right size for it!!!!!

Kaiser, your X looked pretty good with just the body lift though...impressive.

For the old X's and Front Shrocks...just drill new holes in the mounting plates to raise the bumper...for the rears...they come with BOTH std and 2" BL height mounting holes already...so no gap problems either way.

For stock bumpers...the front can be raised with a couple of pipe sections and a few bolts, and the rear can be raised by simply drilling new holes in the bumper to raise it (Someone mentioned an even easier way to raise the rear bumper 2", they said to just flip and reverse the bumper mounting brackets...but I never tried it)

laugh

If you REALLY want to know what your truck looks like 2" higher, just put a jack under it and jack it up 2"...that's pretty much it.

Not to hi-jack this thread, but those of you with a 3" SL and 2" BL, can you park in a standard height garage or are you stuck outside now?

EDIT TO ADD: That is without any extra racks on top.

Taken while doing some measurements for suspension mods.

Re: Wanted: Body Lift pics - 12/11/06 02:36 PM

Damn TJ is a 60" HiLift high enough to change out a flat? laugh
Posted by: TJ

Re: Wanted: Body Lift pics - 12/11/06 04:08 PM

I try not to get flats that I have to change the tire.

laugh

I blow a bead once in a while....I use the OBA to re-seat it.

BTW - the 48" hi-lift is why the truck is up on the left, its hooked into the slider to lift it....I was doing some suspension measurements and that's why the right side tire is on a ramp, and the left side is jacked up.

I can barely, BARELY, squeeze into a friend's standard garage with a 2" BL, PML and 33" tires.

EDIT: I can do it after I take my Surco roof rack off and leave the stock one on.

They aren't THAT difficult...damn, if a 19 yr old girl who never wrenched in her life could do one by herself in her driveway in one day....you should be able to knock one out in a weekend.

Re: Wanted: Body Lift pics - 17/11/06 08:04 AM

American Racing AR767 4.75BS
33/12.5/R15 Micky Thompson Baja MTZ's

I would suggest getting the BS in either 5 or 5.5
I am planning on changing the wheels for a little more stuffage

Post a pic like this:

Code:
[IMG]imageaddress[/IMG]
I had to trim metal behind the front tires, mostly due to the 4.75 backspacing

I will post a few more shots later

Re: Wanted: Body Lift pics - 17/11/06 10:06 AM

You have to have the pic already on the net, ( I do believe) I use photobucket.com (example) Then when you upload the pic from your hard drive, just copy the img link from there and use the img tools on here.
Nice wheels Tuna, same rims i'm looking at for mine, not too fond of $ for rubber on the 17"s
