Looks like a nice job on the headrests! I always wondered how they would work when of road but I see you have a 4x2.

If I had children riding in the back ... I'd love to have that setup. However, my kids need them for their kids now wink smile

It's your truck do what you want and like!

Re: TV's in headrests - 19/09/05 04:18 PM

They are 5-inch monitors. i wanted to put 7-inch but they wouldn't fit. I do have a 3-year old son that sits in the back. i put two tv's because i move his car-seat around whenever i have to fold down one of the rear seats. The main reason i had them installed is beacuse i travel to Idaho a few times a year and i live in Las Vegas. It's hard to keep a three-year old entertained in a car for eight hours. Toys can only do so much. Also, if i was into "off-roading" i would have bought a 4x4... but i'm not. If you don't like it then keep your comments to yourself.

Why is it that whenever somebody adds something like this to their truck this sort of thing comes out? Seriously, it's a pretty racist comment to start using ebonics for anything non off-road related. Based on your preconception that only an African-american individual would do something like this to their vehicle should I assume that you are a friggin' red neck since that is the usual stereo type of an off roader? Get a sense of reality ass. He'll probably get more use out of that DVD/monitor set up than you do from your "4x4" mods you've done to your truck.

Re: TV's in headrests - 19/09/05 05:14 PM

Nicely done, Rod!
I like the way you used that lower switch panel as a single din opening. I never thought of that!

Excellant use of that wasted space since the S models only have one switch in there.

So, where did you relocate the VDC switch to?

Agreed. Great job!

i did not get that option with my xterra. so it was just an empty slot so i put it to good use. that little red switch is used to turn on the FM modulator.

Hey Rod, don't let some of the comments get to you at all. I love my car electronics too.

I'm actually going to be installing monitors in the headrests of my X, but I'm waiting to decide if I'm going to reupholster my seats in Katzkin leather or not.

Nice install and thanks for sharing.

Re: TV's in headrests - 20/09/05 08:05 AM

Nice Job! Do you have a TV tuner in that thing? If so how is your reception and what are you using. I have a TV tuner in mine and to this day in-car reception is really crappy with the four inside window antennas i have hooked up to the tuner unit. Just wondering if anyone else has better luck with some antenna out there that does a nice job.

Seeing as how you live in Pittsburgh, you must be a redneck then! I kid! I kid! I grew up in western PA myself so I like to crack jokes about it. smile

Re: TV's in headrests - 21/09/05 09:36 AM

Checking in on the discussion, I like his TV's, I have a 6.5 inch screen for a stereo, so I can't throw bling-stones.

As for the whole "racial" thing, I think it's silly to get all worked up over it. He was clearly being silly on an internet message board. No, I am not just standing up for him because he is a fellow Red Sox fan. I'd stand up for pretty much anybody except a Yankees fan.

nice! finally a sense of humor. thank you sir, and ditto on the yankees fans.

Re: TV's in headrests - 21/09/05 09:47 AM

I'm not even sure why we're having this conversation. If you consider a couple screens in the headrests "bling" than you are either to poor to have them yourself, jealous, or don't have kids..

There's plenty of things considered bling, but screens in the car are so common now, they've lost that bling'n feeling...

I once caught an episode of Pimp My Ride where they put tv screens in the front bumper....now thats some unuseful but flashy stuff...Bling bling..

Re: TV's in headrests - 21/09/05 09:56 AM

dude, you just admitted to watching pimp my ride! jk - if i can afford an '05 i can probably afford the spinning hubcraps at pep boys too. Dem joints is hot yo! dey look nicey nice with my ricey rice LED window washer fluid sprayers son!

Re: TV's in headrests - 22/09/05 01:35 AM

Well, I don't believe in putting them in for kids as I feel kids should be doing more educational things in the car instead of sitting there watching movies that make them stupid, but you did do a nice job on the install.

As long as YOU aren't watching movies while you drive!

Re: TV's in headrests - 22/09/05 04:59 AM

Nothing like being stuck in 5pm traffic and moving at 3 mph and being able to sit back, flick on your car TV and watch the 5 o'clock news. Tottaly priceless. Makes the whole traffic slowdown less of a hassle after a hard day at work. I love my in-dash TV.

Re: TV's in headrests - 22/09/05 09:58 AM

Tell me about it Waverider, I still hope for redlights on occasion (but the thing's still new, so this may not last).

Between DVD, XM radio, AM/FM, CD's, MP3 CD's, MP3 DVD's, and my iPod, I feel like I'm all set for in-car entertainment...now if I could get that XBox. Surely that must count for bling...
