alright guys who is up for running box canyon and martinez cabin?? depending on who goes may go past the cabins a little ways

best place to meet would be the gas station in gold canyon right off the 60 , just past albertsons , there is a mcyd's attached to it on the east side of the 60

Re: martinez/box canyon the 30th - 23/03/08 06:06 PM

Aaron, I really want to go, but I am supposed to be volunteering at the Outdoor Expo at Ben Avery Shooting Range. The Expo runs from Fri-Sun, so I could try to switch my day from Sat to Sun. That way I could join you guys on the 29th.

I'll know more by midweek. Hopefully, my motor mounts will be fixed by then, too. BTW, I'll be doing the "chain mod" to my mounts when I get my truck back.

Re: martinez/box canyon the 30th - 26/03/08 08:26 AM

hey guys since we have a couple people doin a ride along lets go ahead and meet up 8AM at the albertsons on the east side of the 60 in gold canyon , so they can leave their trucks there instead of the gas station , then if we need to top off we can either right up the road or in florence

I don't think Pluvo (Tom) has a CB yet, but I know he has FRS. I have two FRS radios, so I'll bring both of them if anyone wants to borrow one.

Re: martinez/box canyon the 30th - 29/03/08 06:26 PM

Is this trail stock capable? If not, my buddy keeps hinting that he wants to come with his dodge ram. That might be interesting.

Re: martinez/box canyon the 30th - 29/03/08 06:32 PM

sweet, yeah like ted said looks like its gonna turn out pretty well laugh

as far as he dodge i wouldnt recommend it , very tight in there now since the rains so pinstriping will be had, plus its tight in general , but totally up to your buddy

and it is possibly to do it stock but just have to be careful and listen to your spotter

Re: martinez/box canyon the 30th - 29/03/08 08:06 PM

IMHO, you can do Box Canyon in a stock truck, but the cabins are not stock friendly.

Re: martinez/box canyon the 30th - 30/03/08 09:29 PM

I just made it back, too. Sorry we missed you guys at the cabins. Our intent was to go to the mine and then loop back and meet you guys at the cabins. Penksi got hung up pretty good in the rock garden just before the mine. It took awhile to get him out. We ended up exiting on the 60 instead of through the box. I'll post some pictures tomorrow.

DBAX, I've got a good video of you at the hill climb.

It was great to be out there..
Here's some of my pics from the day-
1st I've gotta' thank these guys (Hector and Ramon) for pointing out the trailhead to me and mine, wouldn't have made it there w/o their help. And secondly, there's no video, but dude in the Toyota drove up the hardline on the playhill backwards in his $50 Toyota. Un-be-fawking-lievable.. Jessica said, "He's a great driver, or he's gotta' be crazy." A man after my own heart.

Dinner at The Old Pueblo was great!

Here are my Flickr pics:

I have to say the videos have great audio, I can clearly hear Jessica pleading with Dan not to go down that middle run.

I had a lot of fun, except for a few challenges. I'm not sure which was worse, the 3 hours we spent fighting to get Penski unstuck or fighting the Ren Faire traffic on the way home.

My truck is a little sad though:

Oh, for future reference, the Albertson's is actually a Basha's.

Sad to see the roof finally came down on the little cabin.

Nice run guys.

AZ-Ted, we set AZXC a forum up over on N4W some time ago that you guys are more than welcome to use as well.

Yeah, that was pretty cool to see your tire up. I'm glad you and the family were able to make it out there. Next time, I'll take more video footage.
