manual tranny lube... - 24/12/06 05:30 PM

i'm looking at AMSOIL's recomennded lube, http://www.amsoil.com/storefront/mtg.aspx, and i'm wondering how many quarts will an 07 OR take?

i'd like to refill asap, and i've got 7.5k on mine right now. i just recently realized how loud my shifts are while standing next to a wall in a drive-through... not sure if it was the same from day one. any recommendations are appreciated.

Im sure that the manual will tell you how much the tranny takes

"i just recently realized how loud my shifts are while standing next to a wall in a drive-through..."

Might be a normal sound, kind of like the unforgetable sound of a shotgun reloading.

Have you ever listened to any other manuals shifting? I hear the same sound from big trucks, my past manuals and my six-speed X all of the time.

It's hardened metal hitting hardened metal, I think it sounds cool, Fab.

I agree, it's probably a normal sound. If it's not, changing the fluid probably isn't going to help the real problem.

But, just FYI.

Manual transmission fluid (MTF)(6 M/T)
2WD: 8 3/8 pt
4WD: 8 7/8 pt

Genuine NISSAN Manual Transmission
Fluid (MTF) HQ Multi 75W-85 or
API GL-4, Viscosity SAE 75W-85 or
75W-90

thanks! i'm way too lazy to go digging through the manual. i'm pretty sure i read somewhere on the XOC forum, that the amsoil fluid reduces the noise, unless that was a reference to the transaxle fluid, can't remember now...

EDIT: is there a break-in cycle for a transmission before you can switch to synthetic lube?
