GOBI ladder questions - 27/01/07 10:06 PM

It's on ebay for $270 ... GOBI Xterra Ladder

To anyone has this ladder ...
How is the quality and installation?
Does it work with a bumper tire carrier?
Would you recommend this ladder?

Thanks

OK, just my .02 but why $200 plus for a ladder on an X? Looks like you have to step on rear bumper to access and have to remove to open hatch. If you can step on the bumper or either rear tire than what can't you reach on the roof of an X? Heck, I'm not even sure how useful the step on the second generation's are.

I see the reason for ladders on an RV but not an SUV. Unless it's a poseur thing wink

Hey Brad... how you been doing? Yea, I like the look and the idea is OK if needed. You had yours done when the rack and bumper were done... correct? Did it add $270?

I love your truck... just think the money could be spent elsewhere on mods that have not been done yet on other trucks.

You planning on GONE or the Colorado trip this year?

Be Well !!!

Roger.....I designed my ladder to be integral with the swing-away carrier and bumper....so nope....it wasn't a $270 add-on. The whole dealio cost me a bit less than any of the other aftermarket rear bumpers, so I suppose I made out OK.

I also have a bit of concern about bolting the ladder to the rear hatch....and I agree that the GOBI price is out of line.

Thanks for the comments about my truck. I fear that the Moab or Colorado trips are off my plate for this year.....But I think, maybe, just maybe, Moab may be on tap for next year. My wife and son would like to experience the area......so I think that may be a very good possibility for next year. As will a tow-vehicle so I can be a bit more liberal with my trail riding with a tad less concern for the long drive home.

cool

I like the look; I found it a lot easier to load/unload stuffs with my friend's Landrover which has a ladder; I don't have the tools nor the knowhow to build it myself.

I don't think you need to remove it to open the hatch tho. That would be really stupid and annoying.

Anyone can provide some information ...

How is the quality and installation?
Does it work with a bumper tire carrier?
Would you recommend this ladder?
Do you need to remove the ladder to open the hatch?

Thanks
