Had some Sears guys knocking on the door at our old place, selling Cabinate Refacing for Kitchen Cabinates. As we were looking to renovate our kitchen at the time we invited them in and they proceeded to put together a quote for something like $12,500. Then started bugging us about financing us. Was almost impossible to get them out of the house - they really weren't taking no for an answer. Brand New Cabinates for our small kitchen only cost $3500, they were smoking some serious crack expecting $12,500 for new doors on the existing cabinates.

I will never buy anything from a door to door salesman based on principle alone, even if I need it - I'll go to someplace else and get it from them. I had a guy last year come by and try to sell me a security system and when I declined he said something to the effect of "so I guess you don't care about your wife and kids." He got a stern "fuck off" and the door slammed in his face. I had another guy (again trying to sell a security system - what is it with those guys?) stick his foot in my door when I opened it so I couldn't close it. Very intrusive. Pet peeve of mine, I guess, but I can't stand door to door salesmen. Edit - or mormon/jehovah's witness missionaries, but at least they're trying to advance something they care about. I know a guy who uses a couple of mormon kids as free labor for home improvement projects - and he has no intention of converting...

What the heck is a cabinate? ![[Finger]](graemlins/thefinger.gif)

I always answer the front door (when I'm not expecting anyone) with a gun in my right hand (the door conceals it)...anyone sticks their foot in my doorway gets told they are trespassing and calmly asked to leave. Haven't had to show the gun yet, but hey it's there.

If the person can describe the gun to the Police and says you pointed it at them, could end up in trouble!

If you open your door with a gun in hand, you are completely in your right to do so. Hell you could have been cleaning it when the doorbell rang and didn't want to leave it on the table for the kids to get at for all anyone knows.

You set a toe in my house uninvited, I have the Make My Day law, in Colorado at least, on my side. I feared for my life, your honor and members of the jury.
