Just paid of my 2002 SE. About 8 months early. Yeah. Just got the title last week. Yesterday, in the mail-my wife hand delivers a shinny 2007 Xterra brochure. Then she states: "you have been bore assing me for your Shrock bumpers and all your after market crap, and now your looking at a new truck...get a life." I never requested the brochure. So I blamed it on the 4 year old. He does have inter net access now. LOL. The new truck looks pretty cool. Especially the Off Road version. I know my son was not to blame. just curious if it is standard practice to send these teasers after a product id paid off.

Yeah, your name is in the database and they basically do a sales campaign when they pull names that are close to paying off or paid off and send out stuff to try to get you to buy one.

So you getting the broshure is not incidental, however getting it just after paying it off might be.

Within a week of paying off the wifes Chyrsler child transport system we got a brochure for a new one and some promotional offer about how we could get a great trade in. They know that she only has 55k on a 2000.

pretty typical, when you don't owe them money anymore they come up with all kinds of BS to get you back in debt.

My favorite is the WE WANT YOUR CAR and we'll pay you more than it is worth scam. It's just to get you in the door. Keep the shiny advert around in case you get the itch to trade up, but highlight the MSRP and know that you're price will be more.

If I didn't have the issues with my '03 I'd be paid off by now, but I sure like the extra ponies and the locker.

I shopped around for my X and get tons of emails from dealerships every month near the end of the month. I use @ my own domain for my email address and some of them quite clearly share your email address among them.
