Well after 4+ years and 100,000 miles I decided to trade the X in for a new Titan SE. I love my X, but I really needed more towing power. I will certainly miss my X and the XOC. Ian thanks for all your hard work in maintaining this board and planning GOX every year. Keep it up. Take care all. I'll still be lurking.

I went and drove a Titan today myself. Looking at one for the same reason, towing power. Checked out a 4X4 SE with off road and towing package. Just need to work the math on a toy hauler for the rail and the X could be gone. I was going to hold out for the '05 X but I still don't think it will be enough for what I want.

Congrats on the new truck, I think you'll be pretty happy with it, they're sweeeet!

Good luck.

So Chrysler is a little scared recently, can't sleep after seeing Titan beating a Hemi, and now they're going to up the displacement to 6.1 to avoid loosing face.

Wonder what Nissan will come up with next?

I just finished putting the 7" CST lift on a black 4x4 Titan this week. Looks schaweet! Makes a stock Titan look like a Frontier.

I'm sure you guys will love the Titan. If I wasn't still itching for a Z, then I'd probably go with a Titan. Have to trade my Sentra in on something this coming Spring. Just hafta!

My husband got a Titan in June when he was hit head on in his Chevy Sileverado. The truck was totalled and he was deciding between the Titan and the new Ford F150. He test drove the Titan and was sold. It is his favorite pickup truck and he has owned a Dodge, Ford, Toyota, and a Chevy. We were not happy wiht the Chevrolet dealership when he had the Silverado so now we are a two Nissan family!

We (Ramstein92 and I... he saw it and talked to the Nissan guys at the state fair) were just talking this weekend about the Texas Titan... Apparently Nissan is making a special Texas edition with 40 more hp along with some other stuff laugh

Looks like the Titans are chock full of problems.

My friend has already had to replace the seat in his from the cloth coming apart.

A coworker of mine bought a tital 4x2 about 2 months ago and has had it back to the dealer 3 times. Once because the passenger sunvisor fell off. And twice because of brake problems. Dealer ended up replacing the front pads and rotors saying that they were installed incorrectly at the factory. It does run really good and sounds good too though.

Take care and dont be shy. Pop in every now and then. Not to hijack but, I think 20 years from now I will still have my X and God willing my kids will be under it turning wrenches, for mods that is.

That's why you never buy the first year of an entirely new design. Seems logical but there's lots of people that can't wait, and have to have the newest.

I love the Titan and consider it a strong possibility when I'm ready to make a change but I don't even consider it an option until a couple of years of working the bugs out.

I have 2 close friends who own trouble free Titans. I use the opposite logic on the first year vehicles. They can also be better because after that initial launch, the auto makers look for ways to cut costs on the model. Frontiers are a great example with the C200/R180 axle combos we're starting to see in V6 pickups.

Though that may be true, I think most of the problems that arise are faults that can only come about once some real use and wear and tear happens. Electrical glitches, computer programming problems, fit and finish. There's a reason the Xterra now has a strip under the wind deflector, for instance, and that only early models had rear hatch rust issues, etc... oh, and that early square headlight problem wink

Not that other problems don't come up with some of the changes that are made from year to year, they're just not as fundamental as they are in the beginning. And you usually pay a premium for new models as well - especially on highly sought new models, the demand is high and your bargining power is reduced.

My theory is combined with both of yours...

Buy the earliest model used. That way you get the big dog with the bugs worked out! Not to mention a fraction of the cost. [ThumbsUp]
