So my procomp rims are still on back order...and I am a little pissed off...so I cancelled my order and I am determined to find other rims. So after extensive research I found that a 1992 Dodge Dakota has the same bolt pattern and offset.
You can check on American racing website. I am still confused about the offset, so instead of figuring it out, I am just going to ask you will this rim fit the new X's?

Hey miles,

Put your flame retardant suit on you are about to be roasted. Many people claim the bolt pattern matches, or the offset is correct, etc. The problem is caliper clearance. The next gen Xterras have the calipers extra close to the rim and this makes it very difficult for rims to fit.

Anyway you are going to be told if you search you could have found that out. Some people may "flame" you for not searching, or posting a popular question, or propagating the mystery of rims for the next gen X. You will probably be belittled by Brent (offroadx), so hang on for the bumpy ride.

To answer your question, I really don't know if those rims will fit. I really doubt it, because of all the previous posts from all the people who have been roasted before you. I do hope we can find an inexpensive match for rims, but I doubt it will be those you linked to.

Good luck,

Actully I went back and did a search and I typed in Dodge dakota rims/ xterra rims and it only came up with 1 post and it did not answer my question. I just wanted a yes or No answer....maybe I will call discount tire on monday and ask them myself.

I am also confused of what this means
16X8 6-4.5 12B
I understand 16x 8 and 6-4.5.. but the 12 confuses me.
I know the 12 represents the offset in milimeters so I guess I would need to convert it to inches to see if it is equal to 5.5 right?

Yup the 12 is the offset in mm. Check out the sticky in this forum for info about offset vs. backspacing, it's basically 2 ways of saying the same thing. The B on Discount's website denotes black finish. AM is anthracite machined, MM is mirror machined, C is chrome, etc.

The specs for this wheel are the same as the MB Predator wheel. However, no one has verified whether these wheels fit or not. Someone has to test fit to see if they clear the calipers. Whether or not it clears doesn't just depend on the backspacing/offset, it also depends on the wheel design (shape of the rim itself), so there's no way to know whether it clears the calipers until you try.

I have asked this before, at thenewx.org, but no one answered if it had been tried. And don't feel bad for asking - this thread is about whether this particular wheel (Unique 297) fits, which is a good question to ask, there are no other specific threads about this model. I don't have a discount tire where I live, otherwise I would have already dropped by to have them test fit it. Anyone who's near an actual store, PLEASE go test it out! Although I'm not holding my breath - the shape of the rim looks like it tapers too slowly, and it doesn't look like the calipers will fit in there.

From the American Racing website these are what fits the Frontier, Pathfinder, and Xterra since all three have the same caliper problem. I think someone here already uses the Series 329 on their X.

Series No. 328
Series No. 329
Series No. 332
Series No. 628
Series No. 629
Series No. 808

Thanks for the info and the compassion about my post there armandov99. There is also this rim which is on the discount tire website as the rim made to fit the 05/06 Xterra's. They are in black but have a Nascar logo on them(dont like). CHeck this out this is a rim that some of you might be looking for. I call discount tire tommarrow and see what they say.
let me know what you guys think..

To add to my above post also when you search on discount tire direct for 1992 dodge dakota rims it gives one rim that appears also under the 06 xterra search. The same rim and specs are the same..I've compared the 2. here is a pic of the rim or click on the link on the post above.

so does that not mean that any 1992 dodge dakota rim theoretically will fit the new generation xterra's.
this rim appears under both searches check it out for yourself.

Well like I said it's not a guarantee that it fits...basically, any wheel that does fit the '05 HAS to have those specs (same as the Dakota) ... but not any wheel with those specs is guaranteed to fit the X - because of the caliper issue. Does that make sense? It's like saying all Xterras are Nissans, but not all Nissans are Xterras.

Having the right specs is just a starting point for test fitting the wheels to see if they clear. The shape has to be right for the calipers to fit under there.

I don't know of anyone that's gotten the Nascar wheels yet. Someone at thenewx.org has indeed gotten the American Racing 329's. They look awesome, and I love them, but they are 17" I believe.

So, what ProComp rims were you looking at getting?

I found these in the 6x4.5 bolt pattern...

I was thinking about either those or the 1069 series. But I didn't see the 1069's in the 6x4.5 pattern.

I get it ...nothing is a sure thing unless its test fitted.
Those procomp rims are the ones I ordered almost 3 months ago...they are still on back order...I cant be bothered plus I am thinking knowing my luck I will damage them up fast.

I've taken both the stock alloy wheels and the steel wheels (stock spare)off an '03 Dakota and mounted them on our '06 X Offroad --THEY FIT-- they're about 1/16" closer to the caliper but still clear. The steel wheels are pretty hard to find but I understand the alloys are available.

According to Discount Tire, the Unique 297 black steelie works on the Dakota. Its specs also match those of the wheels that fit the X...however, they DON'T list it as fitting the X. Maybe they just never tried it.

If you confirmed that Dakota wheels fit on the X, and they confirm that Unique steelies fit on the Dakota, it's possible that Unique steelies fit on the X. What model Dakota did those wheels you tested come from?

If there were a discount tire near me, I'd be there test fitting the Unique 297 black steelies. Has ANYONE done this?

Anyone know of a 4 spoke black wheel with polished wheels, and maybe the fake beadlock nuts?
