this question is for everyone out there with the 17 inch wheels on the X . what size do you have on them and what kind are they. also how much. ive been calling around for 265/65/17 which are the stock size and they are quite expensive and very limited as far as brands.

i have the same problem.....i could only find two brands in 265/65/17...bfg rugged trail..and some michelin junkers....have been told by a tire tech guy at my local dealership that 265/70/17 should fit fine and not have too much of a problem with the abs and speedo...also have had numerous people here tell me that you should be able to fit that size with out too much of a problem

Nitto makes a 17 inch tire like that.

Try Tires.com
I bought my 255-55-17 Dunlops there for 137.00 each. They have free shipping also. Good luck

If the 17's are anything like the 16's, and I expect they are - it'll take a while for tire companies to catch up to current trends... The 16" market is just now coming up to speed, with most manufacturers offering something decent.

If you don't need them right away, you might want to wait a little while, and see what develops - or contact the tire companies and see what their story is.

17" tires are generally for cars, not trucks...

Goodyear has their new Wrangler MT/R's avaialble in 265/70/R17. That's what I'm looking at after my Rugged Trails are done on my SC Frontier.

IT comes down to a preference of taste. BFGoodrich doesnt make an overly agressive tire in 17's yet. They do however make 265/70/17 AT k/o's just not mudterrains. Goodyear does have 17inch mt/r's in 265/70/17's and 275/70/17's. Now talking price is another game. Like Boarder said, its a new not so popular size currently and you have to pay for that. The BFgoodrich at/ko's that i mentioned are, get ready, $171 dollars a piece at tirerack, while the goodyears are $166.00 a piece. Pricey when you are getting 5 tires. Of course those are just the two tire brands I'd consider first. There are more affoardable tires out there than just those. Check tirerack.com as suggested just to get an idea of what is out there.

Being an sc owner and loving the 17's (who doesn't like those looks) I dont feel like bashing up the rims so I have opted to get a second set of wheels. I just got a set of 15inch nissan alloy wheels which I should have shortly for my truck. Im getting 31x10.5x15 mt/r's which tirerack shows at 126.00 a tire. I got a sweet deal on the wheel's and have a hookup on the tires. The price of rims and tires is less than buying 5 17" mt/r's.

Of course this is just something to consider depending on your cash flow.
