IT comes down to a preference of taste. BFGoodrich doesnt make an overly agressive tire in 17's yet. They do however make 265/70/17 AT k/o's just not mudterrains. Goodyear does have 17inch mt/r's in 265/70/17's and 275/70/17's. Now talking price is another game. Like Boarder said, its a new not so popular size currently and you have to pay for that. The BFgoodrich at/ko's that i mentioned are, get ready, $171 dollars a piece at tirerack, while the goodyears are $166.00 a piece. Pricey when you are getting 5 tires. Of course those are just the two tire brands I'd consider first. There are more affoardable tires out there than just those. Check tirerack.com as suggested just to get an idea of what is out there.
Being an sc owner and loving the 17's (who doesn't like those looks) I dont feel like bashing up the rims so I have opted to get a second set of wheels. I just got a set of 15inch nissan alloy wheels which I should have shortly for my truck. Im getting 31x10.5x15 mt/r's which tirerack shows at 126.00 a tire. I got a sweet deal on the wheel's and have a hookup on the tires. The price of rims and tires is less than buying 5 17" mt/r's.
Of course this is just something to consider depending on your cash flow.
