I was starting to shop ahead for a set of dedicated snow tires since this will be my first winter i want to put it to use. But the weird thing its tirerack listed 2 sizes, the stock size and 235/75. Now i know for snow narrower tires are supposed to be better but has anyone tried this combo? I only ask because there were many more options and they were half the cost of the stock size. They wold get little street use and would be used primarily in fresh or recently compacted trail snow. But i'm also wanting to get some to make sure i can make it home on the days it does snow cause i have a 1/2 mile 14% grade to slimb. So would it be a good idea or just stick to the mt's with lower pressure?

Well, you won't be getting anywhere on M/T's if it's packed or icy. M/T's will only work in fresh and deep snow. They are virtually useless and downright dangerous on anything you're going to see on the road.

If you want snow tires, I would recommend getting them in a 30x9.5x15 or a 31x10.5x15 rather than a metric size. The 30x9.5x15 is the closest to the factory metric size tire. That's probably what I would get if the X is pretty much stock. If you have any lift at all they'd be fine, but look pretty freaky, so I would go with the 31 probably.
