I'm thinking of replacing my head unit with a new one that supports XM. I have several friends that have XM and rave about it, and I must admit that when I'm driving around with them I do enjoy it, so I have seriously been thinking of getting it when I swap head units.

Of course, the big question with satellite radio is where to mount the antenna. I read through all of the threads I could find and it seams either in the front (one person has it under the air dam??) or in the back. In the back you can obviously just run the cable to the back inside the truck under carpet/trim and then out the back hatch. For the front would you just hide it under the A-piller trim and then run it out the door? I think that would look hokey - anyone else do it different?

Just looking for ideas, hoping I don't have to re-invent the wheel smile

I am trying to locate the XM tuner that is needed with my pioneer 560MP HU. When I find it, I will install it under the pass seat. As far as the antenna, I will be getting the glass mount and install it on the driver side rear window. I dont want the cable of the antenna running through the rear hatch and messing up the weather stripping which will most likely cause a leak when it rains.

Hey Dave - thanks for the reply. One thing about mounting the antenna on the side window - others pointed out that they were constantly worrying about knocking it off on the trail and wished they had put it on the back glass...

I have the same concern as you about the weatherstripping, but then again the GPS antenna wire doesn't seem to affect it too bad...

If you put it on the back glass, you can pass through the tube for the 3rd brake light into the rear driver side hatch area, from there, you can go anywhere smile

I was thinking of utilizing the space under the rear pass seat for my future XM reciever and to see if my playstation would fit.

I am using this antenna:

centered above the hatch, running the cable under the weatherstripping and then under the headliner trim to the passenger side door trim where it comes down and connects to the receiver under the seat. The whole install took about 25 minutes. I used a dull butterknife to push the wire under the trim. The antenna is has a very low profile and is hardly noticeable.

mine is through the back hatch on the roof. I cut a small slit in the weather strip for it to fit into and have had no leaks at all.
