What do you guys think? I know there are different ones out there. There is the one that will replace the radio H/U, and there is the over head one.

Anyone every put one in their X?

Thanks

Depends on how much you want to spend. You can find double din monitors for about $945.00 USD, or you can go the other route and get yourself a single din, in dash monitor, and a dvd player separately, and spend about half that. Ebay sells inexpensive ones, and you would probably wind up paying about 400 dollars for both of them together. Then again, you get what you pay for.

I paid 911 shipped for mine off of ebay. The Eclipse AVN series are going for a little more. I couldn't justify spending the extra for the eclipse when I'm going with a completely seperate processor for tuning and 5.1 surround. My vote is get some type of hu, especially if you don't have the fosgate upgrade. The stock system SUCKS in the X.

Yeah, i have the stink stock H/U in the X.
I still have to do some more research on this. The main reason i would like ot get the DVD is so that it will keep the kids busy on a long trip. With the DVD in the H/U, will the kids in the rear be able to view the screen?

It's pretty easy to view, but the key is to ALSO get a screen. This way you can have a dvd playing for them and you can be listening to the radio or a cd while they play playstation or watch a movie. There are so many options with one.

I have a dvd player mounted under the passenger seat. I have a visor tv in on the passenger side and headrest monitors in both of the headrest. I didn't want to replace the headunit because of thieves and because it's WAY cheaper without the indash dvd/monitor.

I would either get the one I got (I'm a little biased, wink )

Or the one he's got. His also has built in DVD like the pioneer. The only thing pioneer has that it doesn't is the performance meter. Honestly, I don't need a machine to prove to me how slow the X's are. I can tell that on my own when the cavalier spanks me even when he doesn't know we're racing [Finger] . j/king.

I don't know if I can link off of that site, if not here's the link to the page.

You see how coooo they are! And without all that flipping up junk and without looking so out of place in a vehicle.

LOL, heard ya the first time [Huh?]

It is a lot cheaper, depending on what equipment you buy. I'm real bad about ordering something and it looking all cheap when I get it. I have to get stuff that looks like it has good build quility. So as long as you do your research and get something that you know you won't be dissapointed with, go for it. My biggest draw back to going that route is the fact that you still have the POS stock radio. My buddy took off his map light (if you're like me, you don't have one so it's not an issue. frown I want one bad.), and put an 8 inch fold down screen right there. I looks AWESOME! Very clean and it folds down right in front of the mirror.(You've got two other one's so quit complaining) He's using a PS2 for dvd's, so he didn't even have to get a dvd player. So if you got a ps2 laying around the house, then you get get a good screen for around 150. If not, I just bought one of those new-mini ps2's for another 150. I've just got mine thrown in the glove box along with my owners-manual to the x and some other stuff. The new ps2 is just a little bigger than a dvd case to give you an idea. Also it's about as light.

Well, this is another option for you. Then you could wire it into your cd changer input if you don't have one and use your POS stock radio if you still insist. wink

Hope some of this is helpful for you.

Manny, I wouldn't go for the Pioneer AVIC-N1 because I am not too sure how it would work with the center stack in the Xterra. The trim of the dash sticks out above the double-DIN opening for the headunit. With the flip-up screen of the Pioneer, you may not be able to push it up enough to get a good viewing angle. For just a little more money (or perhaps the same price) you can get the Eclipse AVN2454 (which I have) or the Kenwwod that SC has. Both provide a cleaner look in the dash (IMO).

I am also of the opinion that the sound quality of the Pioneer is not as good as the Eclipse or Kenwood. Again, just my opinion and you may disagree with me which is fine since it is YOUR headunit that you will be buying. I got what I wanted, so you get what you want.

I'm going to have to say that's a matter of opinion. From what I remember, the pioneer has more audio control built into the HU, and I've always loved Pioneers sound. If anything, I'd say that Pioneer and Eclipse are tied, and Kenwood, is trailing shortly behind. Pioneer makes on of the greatest hu's of all time too, the Premier P9!!! OOOOOOOOO, ahhhhhhh!

But I'm getting alpines digital processor so I can be the best! Yeah I'm cool! [Spit]

You did raise a VERY good point about possibly not being able to open all the way. BWWAHAHAHAHAHA, wouldn't that suck to find out after you've already installed it!! [Huh?] [Geek]
