hi all, brand new to the site; so bear with me if this was already covered. i replaced the stock stereo in my 2004 xe with an alpine sirius unit, alpine r-series 6.5 speakers in front, and a jensen amp. the installer told me that the stock speakers in back sounded like crap, so he disconnected them. he also said that it would be difficult to replace them due to the shallow depth behind the panel. i find this hard to believe, and was wondering what speakers anyone has used to replace the rear 6x9s?

I know some people don't like rear fill, but I do. I have a set of Pioneer 6 x 9's. More than a handful of speakers fit it there... you may even find a matching set to the front ones you currently have !!!

First Question: Why in the world would you power Alpine type R 6.5's with a Jensen amp? I just couldn't look past that one. I hope you realize that's a pretty bottom of the barrel amp powering some really nice speakers. As for 6x9's in the rear, I had some standard kenwoods back there, and they fit fine. You might even consider some 6x9 -> 5.25 adapters. Speakers are supposed to be round, not ovals. 5.25's will sound better and are cheaper. If you've got the money, do yourself a HUGE favor and get a decent 4 channel amp and you'll LOVE it.

I had some 6x9 Infinity's Installed in the Rear Area, with no problem....

1) 6X9 Infinity Reference series fit without any problems.

2) Did you give permission to your install guy to disconnect your rear speakers. I would be raising hell if anyone disconnected my speakers without my permission.
