I need to run my 4AWG from my Yellow Top to the cargo area, where my amps are mounted. Where is the easiest place to go through the fire wall?

I do believe it's on the passenger side somewhere, then you can pull of the clamps for the carpet and run it up the passenger side of the x.

I already pulled the passenger seat out, and pulled back the carpet. I couldn't see any gromet through the firewall or any open place to drill a new hole. The entire underbody of the X is covered by skid plates. The ONLY passenger side idea I found was by removing the air recirculator, and HIGH up behind the dash. I'll take a pic and post it here later this week.

I figured somebody here would have already ran a fat power wire and have a few "pointers". I'm thinking I might just run it through the frame, and find a place to come up under the cargo area.

Still looking for ideas though.....

Jason

I just did this a few weeks ago. You can't visually see the grommet from the cabin. Open the engine hood and look for a group of wires entering the cabin through a rubber grommet on the passenger side.

I took a wire coat hanger and attached my amp wire to it. I then ran the amp wire into the cabin. Once the coat hanger penetrates the grommet you will be able to see it from inside the cabin.

Good luck. smile

Mine was done with 4 gauge wire that has a sleeve on it.

I don't remember the exact guage I used but I was able to find an awesome amp wiring kit from Wal Mart for $20 or so. Don't laugh, the wire supplied in the kit was quality and all the connectors were supplied as well. Give em a looksie.

Actually, now that I think about it, I used 8 guage wire which is plenty big enough for my 100watt amp.

Horns180 - you have any pics?

MalcoCS - can I see your pics? I already have everything I need to wire the amps. I just need to get through the firewall

I ran 0 Awg through the OEM grommet. Looking into the engine compartment, left side and down a little bit you will notice wires running into the passenger compartment, as previously stated by someone else.

If you can't figure it out, you could always take it to a reputable shop that specializes in such things to do it for you.

i ran my 4 gauge through the driver side. with the 4 gauge all you need is a little force to get it started and it will spread the grommit it self. it comes in just to the left of the break. from there i just ran it under to carpet right next to the tranny tunnel. [Smoking]

OK guys, thanks for all the help. I got my 4awg ran to the cargo area tonight, so that's out of the way. My JL VR600's should be here tomorrow, and my PG 1 farad cap and 8" Stinger crossblow fan are on the way.

Now it's time to start up the "fiber glass enclosure" thread smile
