Well I just had XM put in (professional instal) and it doesn't work ...

Everything was fine he told me at first, then he went to move some wires, unplugged power into the factory radio unit. Put it all back, and nothing ...

Now the Radio doesn't work, the CD player doesn't work, and worst off, the XM Radio doesn't work.

The strage part is, the radio does have illumination .... just no digital (such as clock, radio station disply, ect)

He thinks it may have something to do with a "security feature" in the factory radio. He said he would need to call Nissan tomorrow and see if their is some code or way to reset my factory box. I don't see anything in the manual. I'm bummed.

Anyone know what's going on? He said all the fuses/wiring are fine ...he triple checked. It looks great, don't get me wrong, just wish I could use it

Would that cause the digital display on my radio to go out? The radio does have illumination ...I just can't turn it on/off, use the CD player, ect.

No, I don't think it's a blown fuse.

You need to take the XM back to the "Professional Installer" and let him know what's going on.

That's what I'm doing now. He just called me and said to bring it in. He called Nissan and they said they only have 1 guy who handles Rockford Fosgates and he's on vacation. I guess most the X's they see have the Bose systems and they have not had any issues with them.

Bucky, let me know how you make out. I will be buying XM also, and having it installed by a pro.
My radio is the cheaper factory one, no amp, or bose.

If anyone cares, I bought this through Ameican TV here in Madison, WI. The guys seem pretty good and willing to look into this more for me which I like. Hopefully by 5pm today, I have more to share.

Just a thought. Check to see if your power mirors are working. I had the same thing happen to me, but mine just went out when I was driving. It ended up being the power mirror fuse that was also controlling the radio display and the XM. Good luck.

They think the found the problem. They were able to verify that there is no security feature with the Rockford Fosgates. Additionally he took out the FM MODULATOR and found that it had blown out ...which leads them to believe that the short there is the problem.

Bad news is ... whatever happened did do damage to my factory deck. They will be replacing that for me as well now ... wow, this turned into kind of a mess.

Apparantly, the deck was found to be grounded to the antenna, as oppossed to the harness. So when they hooked up the FM modulator it blew the 12V allumination fuse, which they replaced and then it worked again...well except for the fact my deck is now a brick.

So check this shit out!!! That was the problem! They checked that fuse and BAMO, we are now up and online!!

Did anyone here see the Howard Stern deal for Sirius that just expired?

He was promoting a marketing gimic where you could get a FREE PnP tuner and either a home or car dock for free with a full year's subscription. I know a couple of guys at my job that signed up and received the FREE equipment.

This is news to me. Wish I had known about it before.

This bites hard! I actually had the SkyFi XM reciever in hand from Christmas, and I took it back because I didn't think I would ever use it. I want it back now!

I already have Sirius in my Xterra, and was going to buy an extra car docking deck and antenna for my Dodge Dakota. Then I got the free offer from Howard Stern! So I ordered the free radio and antenna/docking station for the truck.Now I won't have to switch radios between the two vehicles. And, because I am already a Sirius subscriber, the additional monthly charge is only $6.99! Sweet! I've been very happy with Sirius, as many of you are with XM. No matter which one you get, it is great having no stupid commercials.....just clear, quality radio that offers something for everyone.

Well if you ask me, XM, and Sirius have similar programing except for the sports and maybe a premium channel. I do not listen to Stern, so for me the better choice was XM. Besides, XM's monthly subscription is cheaper.
I bet that when Stern is finally on, you will have to pay extra to be able to listen to him. A premium channel. Next thing you know you will be up to $15 or $16 a month. Like i said, for me it was not worth it. The wife is buying me the SkyFi2 for xmas. A lot of nice features.

On a different note, can some of you post a picture of where you monted your Satellite radio?

For XM (Delphi Skyfi2) i found a site that has a goose neck, that you can mount on the window.
I was trying to find a way not to drill any holes in the dash.
