Rockford 6-1/2" 2-Way 120W Component Car Speakers with Polypropylene Cones Model: P162S

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?...76&type=product

Well the speakers i Order came in and i must .. i was a bit happy so i decide to go ahead and test them out in my X after taking apart the middle dash area and radio to look at the wiring set up and tracing wires to and from the amp i noticed the colors were alot different ... after taking off the passenger door panel with the old Claron speaker exposed i decide to go ahead and replace it with one of the new compenent that just came in ...

To my surprise the factory speaker was glued and made into the speaker mount ... and the only way i could add the new speaker using the factory mount was to rip up and out the old factory speaker cone, magnent and all and modify the mount for the new speaker to fit into ... feel kinda bad destroy the old speaker but thats the price you pay to have thing work the way you want them too

after about 3 hours of modify with nothing more than a screwdriver and sheers i was able to get the new speaker into the mount and into the door for a test fit and sound check... talk about a pain in the @ss ...

I hate to see what i would have to go thru to install the new Tweeter on the Pillar .. no to mention how do i get that pillar cover off?

after installing just one speaker using the factory and listening to the sound from it i realized the 6'5 inch seem to lacked some bass ... so i disable one of the dual tweeters from the included crossover ... then finally ended disabled both of them from the crossover just leaving the 6'5 inch attached to the crossover ...

to my dismay i have consider just wiring the crossover from within the cab under the dash instead of the door .. i figured doing so with inable me to actually fine tweak the sound once all the panel are back in and on the X ... now i think what a pain that will be rewiring the whole front speakers from the factory amp to the doors thru that boot just to get a little better sound qaulity ...

I take it everyone who had to do this to the X has went thru the same thing ... It seems like a lot of more involved than I have expected ....

And i still haven't finished the front passenger side yet .. thank god I'm off work till Saturday

Any ideas or short cuts on how i can speed this process up beside hiring a extra hand

confused

I have boston acoustic pro 6.5 separates in the front of my xterra wired to aftermarket amps. I wired the amps to the back of the radio where the stock amp is and tapped into the wires that go to each speaker to avoid running wires through the boots. I then put the crossovers in the door panel behind the speaker. I also put my crossovers in the door where the woofer is since the pillars are a terrible place for them in my opinion. I just unplugged the factory ones. The pillars do come off with enough force. Oh, and dont forget to unbolt the handles first wink
