need to know how much you are willing to spend since there are so many different choices. also the olm rating on the speakers would help.

what is the ohm rating for each speaker and how many voice coils does each sub have?

You need an amp that will give them their RMS power at its RMS rating. If the sub handles 750w RMS, then you need an amp that will push them with a CONSISTENT, CONSTANT 750w, not BS ficticious or ILS (If Lightning Strikes) ratings.

they are dual voice coil, and are 2 ohm stable each and one ohm bridged, i believe, but i am not sure.

so is that 750 rms, or 1500 rms?

im dumb i know!

If the subs are 750w RMS, then you need 750 watts for each, equalling 1500 watts RMS.

If they are DVC, and are 2-ohm voice coils, then when wired together, you are going to have a 2 ohm mono, 1 ohm stereo, 4 ohm stereo, or 8 ohm mono load, according to your parallel/series wiring configuration.

Most amplifiers are not 2 ohm MONO stable. In this case, I would suggest (2) amplifiers that put out 750w RMS at 4-ohm mono. Then put one amplifier per subwoofer. Also, have a professional set the gains using a multimeter or oscilloscope so that the subs live as long as possible. (i.e. just because the gains on the amps are pointed in the same direction does not mean they are putting out equal power).

2 ohm dual voice coil subs and you need to provide EACH of them with 750 watts, meaning if you want to use ONE amp to power the both of them, you'll need an amp that can push 1,500 watts RMS....NOT PEAK

you can pretty much just forget about that peak rating.

so, do you want to power them BOTH with one amp, or can you affort two amps, one for each sub?

I'd wire each sub in series for a 4 ohm load, then wire both subs together in parallel to create a 2 ohm load. Then, find an amp that will give you as close to 1,500 watts at 2 ohm.

wire it in the manner that skydive mentioned, that would be the best for your subs. Then get a MONO Amp that suits your needs. 1500W is a lot of power, but make sure you read the specs and you need 1500W @2 ohms!!! (which will be approx 750W mono @4ohms). What kind of box will you use? This is a factor that I would consider when choosing an amp.

Here are some amps that would work well.

(DO you know how loud this will be???)

These are just a few... There are many many many more out there. Like I said before, you should deside how much you want to spend...

manny,

of all the amps oliver posted links to, I'd go with either the kenwood or the Ph Gold. Oliver is right though, those subs need ALOT of power and will have "wake the dead" capability. I personally would get a JL or Zapco or PPI or Memphis amp. Crutchfield is the walmart of mobile audio. Remember, you get what you pay for, and good powerful clean watts aren't cheap.

good luck,

Jason

this is the loaded box

here are the specs:
TS-W2000SPL
Premier® 12" SPL Component Subwoofer
Features
Size 12"
Woofer Cone Material Interlaced Carbon Fiber/Glass Fiber Reinforced
Surround Wide-Roll 3-Layer Fiber Woven Radial with Honeycomb Cloth
Voice Coil Dual 4-Layer, Long Voice Coil (2 x 4ohms)
Specifications
Watts MAX. Music Power 2000W
Watts Nominal Power Handling 750W
Frequency Response 18Hz ~ 2,000Hz
Sensitivity 89dB
Ohm Rating DVC (2ohm or 8ohm)

i probably should have posted that first huh?

i would rather run 1 amp, but i can run 2 if needed for the best performance.

Like I stated above, if you decide to get one amp to push both, get one that puts out the 1500w at 2 ohm MONO.

Just because an amp says 1500w at 2ohm, that does not mean 2 ohm mono. Mono and stereo are completely different loads on an amp and will result in your amp blowing up if not done correctly.

It is quite difficult to find a 2-ohm mono, 1500 RMS watt amp.. Hell, JL's biggest amp is the 1000/1, which is 1000w from 1.5-4 ohms and it is also $1000, not to mention it draws 100A of current which will shut down most stock Xterra electrical systems.

Because of all of the above, that is why I suggested (2) amps with reasonable power at 4 ohm mono a piece.

Ron Doyle

I'm not certain if you know about class D Mono amps, but all class d mono amps are 2ohm mono stable. Every manufactor makes one these days. In my earlier post with the examples of amps, look at the stats. for example: the MTX is 1500W X 1 @2ohms. That amp would probably be his most bang for the buck since the difference between the absolute best sub amp sound and the worst isn't that noticeable. The MTX or any of the others that I showed are FAR from the worst. Just thought I would let you know.
