i have the same problem, 01 4x4 5spd, no parking brake for the past 3 months, if the adjuster doesn't work that TJ described (it didnt work for me), your gonna have to go into the drum in the back and adjust the brake, i haven't done it yet but if you have a haynes manual, check that, thats what i'll be doing when i decide to stop bein lazy
