#303625 - 21/07/04 07:16 AM 3rd Party Head Unit and my steering wheel controls..

I'm really anxious to get my iPod into my car stereo. I've read around and I've found that Alpine makes a small box that integrates it right into many of their head units. So that's good, but what about the audio controls on my steering wheel (which I can't live without)? Does anybody know if it is possible to use those with a non-factory head unit. It doesn't make much sense to have them there if they don't work with a new head unit. Any help/info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

The PAC SWIX Steering Wheel Interface will work with any head unit that uses an IR remote control. It has to be hard wired in and programmed for your specific vehicle. You also have to mount an IR repeater near the center console or other location where it has an unobstructed view of the new head unit's IR sensor. As long as your aftermarket CD came with a remote, then the SWIX will work great.
