Hey guys, I'm at the point I need to decide what sub I should put in my X. I'm getting a JL. In my opinion, there's not a better sub on the market for the cost.

I had 2 12w0's in my Monte Carlo and they bumped, but they would take up too much room in the X cargo area, so I'm doing a custom fiberglass enclosure in the rear quarter panel, passenger side.

The other day, I stopped by the local high end a/v store, and got prices on a 10w3v2 ($200 w/ tax) and a 8w7 ($375 w/ tax). The manager of the store has an 8w7 in a slot port box in his trunk, fed by an old school Kicker amp. Other then that, the entire car was stock equipment. When the 8w7 hit, it almost knocked the wind out of me. I was TOTALLY amazed. I _NEVER_ would have thought an 8" speaker could hit like it did, but DAMN WAS I WRONG.

They both need about the same amount of space, and my amp would power either one. What would you guys do....the the 10w3 or the 8w7?

Depending on the music you listen to, I would probably go with the 8. The 10 would be capable of playing rap bass a little better, but still have the capability for tight quick rock/techno bass. The 8 would have really tight rock/techno bass.

I had a Boston Accoustics 10" Bandpass in my cargo area. Had the sensitivity on the amp turned way down and the bass on the head unit also turned down. At times, the 10 was just too much! I'd personally go with the 8 and have a small, contoured box fabricated(maybe by Tweeter?) so it can fit in the cargo area without losing any space....
