So I've got an iPod mini I would like to hook up to my X. I was going to just hookup one of those headphone plugs to "fake tape" thing-a-ma-jig but then realized I don't have a tape player. Since I've got a mini (hey don't laugh) I can't use all those cool Apple FM radio things but I did find one by Belkin that works for the Dell ones that hooks up via the headphone plug and then outputs to an FM station. I think it might work (should) for mine as well.

Any ideas?

In addition I need a converter so I can hookup an AC plug to my iPod to keep it charged. Anything I should know? Any recommendations on getting the best converter that doesn't kill your battery and keeps the power clean?

I did see the post here though but was that iTrips thing the same as the FM thing I want to try?

Well you actually dont need a power inverter to charge an iPod. I think there are many 12V adaptors you could use that have fuses on them in case you're wondering about shorts and stuff.

I don't know about the conditions in your state but I purchased the BELKIN FM Mod. and it didn't work for SHIZZLE here in AZ all the optional stations for the mod. are currently in use so it sounded like crap. I would go for something better if I was to do it again. Just my $.02

I've tried two different iTrips and a Belkin Tunecast here in suburban Chicago. None of them worked well enough to continue using.

No more FM modulators for me. A new head unit with an aux input is in the near future.

yea thats the only way its going to sound decent. with the fm modulator thingy majigy its gonna sound like you're listening to the radio unless you get some super duper one. i guess kinda like the one that cd changers use. my bro has a cd changer that uses an fm modulator and it actually sounds pretty good. i had a fm thing for my iriver mp3 hard drive player and it sounded like udder crap so i just bought a new head unit with an aux input and it sounds great...

Yeah FM modulator's suck. I've had my iTrip for about a year now. In the beginning it was great but after a while, all the stations stopped working clearly. I ditched it and put a new deck in my old car. Then after my accident, I ripped it out, and was thinking about putting it in the X and wiring the AUX to the centre console, but I havent gotten around to that. Does anyone know where I could get a wiring harness for an aftermarket stereo for the "Premium" sound system?

I have an Alpine 9833 with the Alpine iPod interface. Despite popular controversy, I personally like it. I have a 20gb 4G iPod and it works like a charm. Ive used the FM modulator in the X, sounded like crap. My X didnt have a cassette player so I couldnt use the cassette adapter, but I had an Acura RSX-S and I used the cassette adapter in there, and it suffered from a grounding problem and consequently made the sound horrible. I only feel the decent in-car solution is a direct connection (ie. AUX cable). Although, I have been in a few friends cars who have a cassette adapter and they sound similiar.

Anyway that we can wire our iPod directly into our stock head units. Remember I have a mini but should the same for all iPod's. Thanks!

I assume you have the 6 Disc changer? I'm on the same boat as you. There's no AUX connector on the stock deck, so you'd have to replace it. Also you need some special wireharness to connect your aftermarket deck so it bypasses the amp (from what I've gathered).
