I am thinking about adding a lift (the Calmini 3" lift and steering system) to my 2000 X now that it is out of warranty. I also tow a 3500 lbs camping trailer about once a month. Would pulling with a lift be #1.........a smart idea............#2 and if not what are some of the reprocussions I could expect.

I am just trying to see what I am getting myself into before I drop the money down on the life.....steering system....and a new set of 32" tires to go along with it.

Is there anything I am not thinking about. Would love to hear any opinions......especially those that pull with a 3" lift or even a PML of 1.5" right now?

Thanks

Cj

I have AAL's in the back and the t bars cranked and I find it better for towing. Its stiffer, so it handles the weight better. THere is very little sag now, and I just feel like stopping is maybe better because the front doesnt dive like it used to. I think you will be fine.

I towed a 3000lb box trailer from Kansas to Maryland last fall. The only problem I had was the 8 mpg. This is on a 3" lift with 285/75R16 MT's.

I would recommend having a set of 30" or 31" tires for towing, but other than that, no problem. I towed 3000 lbs of car and dolly yesterday and had about 500 lbs of cargo. Was riding on my 32" M/T's. Only problem was a lot of grunting on the steeper hills (down to 2nd gear on a couple steep and windy ones). Got 14 MPG though, which wasn't too bad.

I am definately considering the 1.5" from the Calmini add a leaf just for the load capacity upgrade. I know the bigger I go with the tires the more it will grunt too but the 32" tires with the 1.5" of lift would be a great help off road.
