Are you asking if you should disconnect the battery when you install an intake? My answer would be yes. I think of it as installing new software on a computer. But I'm sure you don't have too.

Is it neccessary to retune the computer after an Setup REPLACEMENT.I was told if I take it in to the shop they will set the computer up to fatory specs. A programmer lets you set the limits of shift points etc... and removes rev limiter

I did both of these on my 2001 and did not have to take it anywhere. The computer adjusts itself and it works just fine. Don't think I have ever read of anyone "linking" their ECU to refine the specs.

The computer will re-learn eventually. The best idea is to disconnect the battery for about 20 minutes or disconnect the battery and hit the brake pedal for a couple of minutes to drain it faster.

That way it will reset the ECU and you'll have a better impression of what effect the new mod has accomplished.
