I'm looking for a short shift kit for my 06 X 4x4 S 6MT. I've been looking and didn't find anything, if anyone finds anything please let me know .

I was thinking about doing this also. Many people say it's usually not something you'd do to a truck, but I personally like having a short shifter regardless of what kind of vehicle it is. Besides, I have long arms and it wouldn't hurt to do it :p

Since I doubt anyone would make this for a next gen X, I'm gonna do what I did to all my previous manual cars: Chop off between 1.5 " to 2" from the middle of the shifter and weld it back together. There wouldn't be that much leverage loss, since these X's shift so smoothly and easily to begin with.

What you want is a shorter shifter lever not a short shift kit. A short shift kit improves the shift action by shortening the shift motion from one gear to another, it does not shorten your shift lever.

Actually I do want to shorten the shift action from one gear to another. The Xterra has a very long throw, VERY long.

chopping the lever itself actually does shorten the throw slightly...but obviously not as much as a real short-shift kit (which I doubt they will ever make for an X) The closer the shift knob is to the pivot point, the shorter the shift.
