Party Chief: Chas H. Sells, Inc. is currently seeking experienced party chiefs for our Briarcliff Manor, New York office. Candidates should have at least 3 years of party chief experience. A familiarity with Sokkia instruments and TDS data collectors is also helpful.

Survey/CADD Technician: Chas H. Sells, Inc. is currently seeking experienced Survey Technicians for our Briarcliff Manor, New York office. Candidates should have an understanding of the survey process, experience with data processing, experience compiling deeds & maps, and experience conducting research. A good knowledge of AutoDesk Land Desktop is required and Microstation experience is helpful.

what kind of drafting is involved?

Survey Drafting. Editing Field Books from the crews, Importing the points, doing topos, boundary surveying (running deeds, filed maps, etc), doing research, Utility Drafting, Prepping Stakeouts for the field crews.

At the very least knowledge of LDD is needed (ie how to manipulate points, work in Terrain Model Explorer, do profiles, etc.) and knowledge of surveying is preferred but we can train for that.

Does your field measuring/verification appointments require a 4x4 for access?
I cant get enough wheeling on job sites, especially when you're allowed too..

I work for a Civil Engineering/Survey Firm here in SA as a Cadd Designer, and sometimes get sent out to Undeveloped Land which sometimes requires me to use the 4x4 capabilities...I live for those days when they send me out to do some Field work...especially when I know the Terrain requires me to use 4x4...
Hey Tom, are you guys pretty swamped with work, right now...I know we are, we are getting alot of Highway Contracts from TxDot (Texas Department of Transportation) for work around Texas, some small some big...the work is mostly the Widening of Roads...but hey, that's our bread and butter right now...Life is Grand

I do get to 4x4 on sites some times...yesterday I got to go muddin' on a huge construction site!!

And yeah we are SWAMPED...we are desperatly looking for people...I have enough work to keep 4 crews busy for 2-3 months right now...but I only have 2...same with drafting...we only have 1 draftsman in my department now and we need 3.

well, if this was a little closer to here so i could still go to school ,id consider it. my dad just offered me a job at his civil firm last week. i have an interview on wens. so now i'll have aerospace (mechanical&electrical) down, and now some civil. taking archietectural in school right now.
