I took my 2002 Xterra with 95,000 km into the dealership three times over the last three months complaining of a oil leak. I drive about 3000 km a month and the warranty is just about up. The last three times they told me there is nothing wrong. Last week I noticed more oil on the garage floor and contacted a different Nissan dealership to have a look at it. They called today and said they have to replace the rear seal! Is it normal for a rear seal to go with around 100,000 km? Anyone else with this issue?

Yes.

It's a semi regular occurance. Mine went with 45,000 miles.

Mine went at about 35k... Covered under warranty of course. I'm at about 65k right now and haven't had any leaks at all.

Yep. Happens ALL the time to these trucks. Your exhaust manifolds are probably cracked too.

On the plus side, between the SAS and the 3" body lift I have ALL KINDS of easy accessibility to my engine and tranny now for repairs like this smile
