Hey guys,

I have a weird one. My transmission shift lever dances back and forth while it's in third grear. It does it at around 1500rpm-28Km/h. Does anyone else have this problem? My dealer said "that is normal operations for this vehicle".

Mine did that... except in first gear for about a month then my tranny grenaded. Not to freak you out [Uh Oh !] or anything. Good luck and five speed! [drink]

Mine has done that, especially while in 4 wheel low.
It should be normal.
I have 103k miles on my truck.

Some movement would be considered normal, but if it's really moving then you may have a new transmission in your future. Synchro failure seems to be a sore spot with these trannies, at least in small numbers.

Another option is your engine mounts. When an engine mount has failed, your shifter will rock from left to right when the engine is under hard torque.

X2 if you wheel it and take a hard hit it can break it.

Have someone watch the engine while you rev it a little in drive. Also it is normally the mount on the drivers side.

Yup...happened to me recently...noticed the X was very sluggish (especially uphills and Left Turns), and also noticed my Shift Lever rockin around...took it to Nissan, and they found the X had a driver's side broken engine mount, and ripped air duct hose (which was causing the sluggish )....
