So iwashed my X last week and you know....drove around liek normal...work and whatnot. Today I happened to notice that the bottom of the diff look wet? It jsut looks like where the plug is there maybe some fluid or something around there. Not dripping or anything but just wet. It has been like that for a while but I have never had any problems with it and I checked underneath and no cracks or anyhting. Is this normal?

It is called wicking. All diffs will do it after while. As long as you don't notice a puddle under the truck it is fine. Observe other trucks, not just Nissan's, diffs and you will also see it.

ok good....i was afraid that my diff was leaking fluid and that i was going to be in some serious trouble....maybei should invest into a set of new skids to be on the safer side so i don't explode something.

If you are anal about leaks like I am then the fix to your problem is a little bit of sealant around the fill plug and tightening of the plug before that. Worked like magic for me. My diff is a dry as it can be.

I, too have noticed the 'seep' at the rear diff drain plug and agree if it is not puddling it shouldnt be a problem. However it bugs those of us that, if we don't have something to compluse about, will find something to compulse about. Perhaps a bit of teflon tape around the drain plug threads? Note that, at least on the 01 I changed the diff fluid on, the drain plug end is beveled and apparently seats on a similar surface within the drain plug hole. I arrived at this conclusion when trying to run the plug all the way such that there weren't any threads exposed so they wouldnt continue to get boogered up by inconsiderate rocks I was passing over. A little low grade locktight might work, too.
