Ok, I know this topic has been covered before (feel free to flame), but my exact question has never been addressed, at least not to my knowledge. I have a 2002 XE with 265/70/16 grabbers. so far, they are fine and have not given me any problems. however, i do want to go start going offroading, and from what I know, the grabbers are not the best. Taking into account I have a 4x2, I want to get tires that have a good on-road ride (since I have a 45 minute commute one way and make frequent trips up to SB). However, since I wil start offroading, i also want a tire that will give me the traction to get places where a stock 4x2 with grabbers might get stuck.

I know Todrick and socalpunx (both fellow socal residents) run the dueler at's and have given them sterling reviews. I need the tire to fit with no trimming of the mudflaps. So, in the stock size, I can do the duelers, t/a k/o's, radial rover at's, and geolander at plus II's. I have read good things about the pirelli scorpions, but they do not come in my size, although it seems as if 2002 owners have been able to fit the next size up (265/75/16) because of the different shape of the mudflaps. Any suggestions or real world exp.? I have searched the threads before, and no clear answer has popped up, because most people have the 15 inch rims, and thus, the sizing is not identical to my situation. I know roofgoat was looking into getting new tires too, so I'll check back on that thread.

Anyway, thanks in advance for any advice given, and if you feel the need to flame, go right ahead, I don't mind.

Chris
