New user from Denver, Colorado. Long time fan of the Xterra, but financial situation has only recently permitted me to follow-up on my love.

Looking to buy my first X in the next month or so. I'll be posting in some other sub-forums with questions and suggestions.

thanks for the welcome. i'm looking at 2nd gen X's. anyone have opinions on buying an Off Road versus buying an S or SE and doing the Off Road class mods aftermarket?

Here is some info on that subject.

If you plan on doing suspension mods, some of the stuff that comes with the Offroad end up being replaced anyway. The only issue is the e locker in the rear.

I have a 2005 Offroad and have replaced most of the features that came with it. I still love the locker though. grin

the locker and the transmission are the two biggies for me. after researching the Off Road standard equipment, I found better aftermarket alternatives, anyway.

however, I wasn't able to find a way to replace the locker aftermarket.

also, I'm really wanting a manual transmission and most of the X's here in Denver are automatics. From my research, it's not trivial to convert an auto X to a manual X, like it is with other makes/models.
