Gas peddle stopper

I was cleaning out my X yesterday and noticed a plastic stopper under my gas peddle. Now this is probably a stupid question but if I were to remove that stop, would I gain anything off the line? I imagine that this peice was put there to keep me from opening the throttle beyond how wide it can go. So to anyone that has tried this yet could you please shed some light. Thanks

Yes.
The pedal-limiter, which you're talking about, was put in for the '02 model year. Too many Xterra owners were ripping up their tires from the torque generated by a full-range movement of the throttle.
Engineers at Nissan decided that the best solution was to limit the range of movement of the throttle pedal, to limit the damage caused by hard launches.
The throttle position has also damaged several muffler bearings over the first couple years of the model . . .

So you are saying if I was to take that "limiter" off I will need to upgrade my muffler bearings ![[Finger]](graemlins/thefinger.gif)

dont forget the hollow plug wires, blinker and hallogen fluid. and if you're foing to upgrade the bearings, might as well add an O pipe while you're down there.

Be carefull with that though. Repacking the muffler bearings are a PIA... you have to take the O pipe and line it up correctly or you will break the rubber gasket. If you do its part ID: 10T on nissans part book.

While we're off on a tangent, it's pedal, not peddle...

I've tried to use a bucket of steam, they really should put some kind of warning label on that stuff... What the hell is wrong with people? If you want to go fast, buy something meant to do so....Might as well be ricers....

I did all that in my Garage last week, no need to take it to the dealer either..... I also found my "710" that I lost last month....

I removed the peddle-limiter on mine. There is so much torque now that when I floor it, the rims turn in the tires. The air in the spare will need to be rebalanced because it all went to the back.

Well this Mod should be clearly noted as one of the first thing to do in 02-04? xterra. Especially the '02 model year with the extra gutless 170HP engine. Do they have one of these on the 05+ models? I mean 170HP vs. 265.. you'd think there would be more to carneige with that engine vs. the older ones. I never thought of this motor as a fire breathing engine...

Hmmm, let's keep calling them peddles just to ruffle Brent's feathers.
For some reason this whole notion reminds me of the logic Spinal Tap used to have all their amplifiers go to eleven.

Well after analyzing this stopper last night I noticed that with the peddle fully down; it doesn't even touch this “stopper”. It’s limited in range by the mechanic's further up in the linkage by the firewall... So there may be some confusion as to what this plastic piece is under the gas peddle.

So you're not even reaching the pedal limiter?? WOW you are REALLY missing out on loads of power.
