ive got one. maybe 5-10 ponies. with exhaust i was getting almost an extra 2mpg. i paid $215 for the polished one. make sure, if you're gona wheel, get a dry filter. i have an oiled one and i have to clean it everytime i go out. it sounds awesome too.

JMO, "cold air intakes" don't do much other then making an inlet tube look pretty.
I didn't get any additional HP when I put one on my Mustang, and it did not improve the cars track ET. I actually think it hurt it.
The air isn't going to be "cold" anyway. It still has to go through the engine bay which is putting off heat.

The Volant can take in cold air from outside the engine bay...but otherwise makes snorkle installation tough.

yea, ive seen/used similar products and they add power, and sound pretty nice doin it. its sort of hit or miss on the gas mileage factor though. some gain mileage, some lose.

as i have said before your better off with the K&N FIPK kit. THe AEM uses a aluminum tube which soaks more heat. K&N uses hard plastic which dosent.

well my AEM has a heat shield that seals with the hood to keep some of the engine heat off, im not saying all, but some. i actually did notice a slight power gain when i installed mine. i unhooked the battery to reset the computer and when i was done i hooked it back up and went out on the road, stoped, and floored it to, i guess let the computer reset the MAF for the new intake to take in the extra air. i was told to do this upon install. now if its just me thinking that it changed anything, then it is. put i did notice better gas mpg.

Yeah the K&N has a heat shield to for the filter. But the tube gets most of the heat. since it sits closer to the engine.

tuned plastic tube is way better than aluminum shiny straight crap...but come on..do you really expect a real kick in the nuts with some bolt ons? It will add to the mpg...as long as you go with a tuned intake not one of the bandwagon manufacturers, like AEM...
and i'm not putting down AEM..they are some of the top aftermarket ECU manufactures but they are NOT the brightest intake fabricators..(no pun intended).

well last night, i went and test drove an stock 03 XE, and compared to my truck, it felt like it didnt have as much power. it felt restricted. it was a noticeable differance too. do you think it could be the intake/exhaust setup? i was thinking about leaving the intake out when i made the switch, but it if makes that much of a differance, i'll change it out.

Probably the 'sound of power' is tricking your brain into thinking your gained uber hp. Seat of pants dynos are useless unless you really did something.
Do you have headers? If not, then no you didnt make a big gain. The thing with intakes and exhausts is, intakes dont do ANYTHING for power. And exhausts ONLY flow the amount of air that can pass through the THINEST part of the exhaust. So if you are still on stock manifolds...your still only flowing the same amount of air...just now it sounds prettier.
If you dont belive me...check a physics book.

I'm with you guys, K&N is the way to go! I noticed a differance in low end power from stop, giving the S/C more spin, quicker response.
