#638238 - 21/01/05 11:59 AM SC bolt on affair like with 4runners? Searched...

Hello,

I have been looking at the 02+ xterras but as you probably know there are a lot more used non sc's out there than ones that came with sc from the factory.

So my basic question is, what is the big deal about adding on the SC to a non SC version (02 or newer)? This is not a big deal with the 4runner at all (I think they did my cousins truck in 3 hours total)...does the SC xterra use a different computer/fuel pump/injectors/anything? Or would it basically be a bolt-on affair?

I found a couple posts about this but they were vague at best.

I got these tidbits from the word "supercharger" as a search.

Read this entire thread first. Your specific question is asked and answered there. :

Then look at the last post in this thread:

As a matter of fact so that you can skip the crap here's the needed parts list to do the conversion:

f r e z N Y was the poster:

In case anybody is interested in the parts differences between a S/C Xterra and a non S/C Xterra,

My Xterra parts list finnaly came in guys!

Part one entails determining what parts I will need:

S/C Assembly:
14110-5s725 - Auto Trans S/C
14033-5s700 - S/C gasget
14010-5s700 - collector
14032-5s700 - collector gasket
14460-5s700 - inlet tube
14465-5s700 - inlet tube gasket

Now, there are some differences in the exhaust systme between the S/C Xterra and the Non-S/C, but I don't think that will matter much. Mostly likely, changes were made to free up a little more aire, while also trying to cut down on the increase sound output.

Ignition:
22450-5s725 - wire set (not sure if I'll need this)
2371m-6s611re - ECU (not sure if I can swap this in or not)

engine:
13264-5s700 - r side valve cover
13265-4s100 - l side valve cover
12303-5s700 - crank pully
11920-5s700 - drive belt
11925-5s700 - idler pully
11926-5s700 - idler pully bracket
21082-5s700 - fan clutch\
21200-42l05 - thermostat

cruise control:
18930-9z700 - cc unit
18225-89907 - outer cc cable clip (this is for the right side. I'm not sure if ours is left or right or ?)

Gear Set:
I'm not conserned with the gear set, but it is interesting to know that they used a different set between the S/C and Non-S/C xterras.

Fuel pump:
The same!

Transmission:
--- these are only listed for the 2wd systems. Did the S/C only come on the 2wd systems? If so, why? ---
31390-41x07 - trans pan (not sure if i will need this)
31397-41x05 - trans gasket (not sure if i will need this)

OK, so. I think I covered all the parts that are different, and possibly necessary between the S/C and Non-S/C exterra. My logic says that truck with a VG33E, rather than an VG33ER, would have all the same parts for this process. The one thing I have yet to uncover, and this list unfortunately did not tell me, is the possibly difference between injectors and plugs. I'll do some more investigation and update you when I know more.
No known differences between S/C and Non-S/C models.

Ahh I see, the search defaults to only searching in general.

Side question, why cant you have it search through all available forums?

Anyways, thanks for the info. I am thinking maybe 01+ pathfinder might be better for my needs (huge hp difference). I will test drive both this weekend though.
