What do you guys think of this set-up? I am looking for something that is as quiet as possible, but also free flowing enough to make a difference. The most important thing I am looking for is a little more power. i realize it will not do miracles, but I just want a little more highway pulling power for my trailer. Do you guys think it will be a noticible difference, or am I wasting my money? If you did buy this set up (Or something close) are you happy? and who has the best prices on the stainless gibson cat back? Thanks in advance!!

Do you guys think it will be a noticible difference, or am I wasting my money? It'll make an audible difference, but none performance-wise as such you'd notice as you pull your trailer up a hill. Is it a waste of money? It's all relative I suppose... Edit to add- DUPLICITY SUCKS ![[Geek]](graemlins/geek.gif)

Some people have said they have felt a noticeable, although by no means great, difference. You might get 5 or 6 extra horses.

I have a flowmaster 40 series on mine along with a K&N intake system. On the low rpm's i havent really notcied anything but while on the highway and I'm trying to pass someone, I have felt a little difference. Dont think it will help in towing though ![[LOL]](graemlins/lol.gif)

jrbbikerx, I am no trying to pull a house!!! LOL It's just that I use a 6x12 enclosed trailer with a motorcycle in it. The total weight is about 3,000 lbs. which is 2,000 less than the allowable tow weight, but it seems like it strains way too much. On the highway, it feels like it strains too much with the overdrive on. If I shut it off, it seems to rev way too high at 65-70 mph. It sounds like the engine will blow up before I get to where I am going. That's why I figured that if I get a little more power out of it through some simple mods, they kind of pay for themselves. As I read the responses though, I am getting the feeling that you guys are telling me that I will be wasting my money. Before I totally discount the idea, did anyone actually use a dyno or g-tech meter to see exactly how much is gained by these mods? everything I read so far seems to be seat of the pants feel. I don't like to go by that b/c if it sounds cool, it will feel faster. I want to know actual gains. Thanks guys/gals!!

Oh, by the way, I have a g-tech meter, so if anyone wants to compare performance specs. I have a fully stock 2000 w/3.3L engine and auto. If you have a modified Xterra and live on Long Island, let me know, we can get together and do a few 1/4 mile runs with the computer hooked up to see the effects of your modifications.

Up4Speed, In all seriousness, an easy (and relatively cheap) way to make your trailer easier to tow is to simply pick up an extra set of smaller tires for the X. I'd say go as small as you can while staying in the proper load rating for the vehicle. If you're pulling a trailer and motorcycle then Id assume you work on it, and probably own an air compressor. When you know you're going to tow the trailer, simply take the 1/2 hour to throw the smaller tire set on, and that should make pulling the trailer a little easier. Try throwing a set of warn manual hubs on to ensure that you have as little rolling resistance as possible too (so the front drive line isnt turning). All together, you're looking at about $500 tops for the hubs and wheel and tire set (less than the intake and exhaust-but those two will help as well.)

Yeah  , and you think Bilsteins are the best shocks too :p For the price I do (certainly better than Ranchos ). If the sky's the limit on prices, though, I'm sure there are far better shocks out there. As far as the Airaid goes, I think the K&N is a bit better because replaces the stock ribbed rubber pipe, which should allow for a bit more airflow. I do realize I'm splitting hairs a bit, as the power difference is no doubt too small to measure, but what the hell - an Xterra needs all the help it can get in the HP department. ![[Uh Oh !]](graemlins/uhoh.gif)
