Two words: Holy sh*t.

That was one of the most brutal headkicks/knockouts I've ever seen. I seriously thought Cro Cop wasn't going to get up after that one, especially when the paramedics started circling.

And his knee and ankle folding up under him? I think the only thing that saved him from serious injury was the fact that he was completely out before he hit the floor and his muscles were relaxed. If he had tried to move even slightly against it, he would have seriously torn something.

Brutal [Freak] sweep like kick. Cro Cop seemed out of place or something in the UFC.

Can't wait for UFC71: Iceman vs Rampage rematch from pride.

That was a hell of a kick, Cro Cop did make a mistake and not train in a cage but he will be back. I like Dana White's take on the UFC fights...he would rather see you fight and get knocked out than win and not fight.

I say Cro Cop vs Tim Sylvia would be a great fight since they both like to throw bombs.

Why would Cro Cop want to be knocked out so violently? I guess he also wanted his ankle to bend underneath himself to?

Yes I have seen Cro Cop fight in Pride and remember this isn't the first time he has been knocked out.

He will be back.

Obviously you haven't been a MMA fan for very long. Although an unknown, Gonzaga has crazy BJJ skills. What surprised everyone was his striking skills. Most people figured his best chance would be a submission against Cro-Cop. He's legit, and it won't surprise me at all if he beats Randy Couture to win the UFC HW title. Couture himself said after the fight he'd rather fight Cro-Cop than Gonzaga...because he fights better against strikers.

Look at the photo:

Cro Cop misjudged the kick. If you also watch the video of the kick, I think Cro Cop was expecting a shot to the ribs. See him drop the left arm to block? That left his head completely exposed.

Cro Cop made a simple, yet nasty, mistake.

^^^Exactly. Watch the .gif I posted above....Cro-Cop anticipates the kick from Gonzaga, but misjudges by bringing his left arm down. Cro-cop is thinking the kick is going for his ribs, so the natural reaction is to drop the arm, and use it to protect the ribs.

Cro-Cop has made a living doing the exact same thing to countless fighters. He established the body kick early on, and then when his opponent is thinking another body kick is coming, he brings it up top to decapitate his opponent.

Karma is a bitch.

That was a great fight... I agree with everyone... Cro Cop simply made a mistake and left himself open to a wicked kick to the head... I don't care if your name is Fedor or Liddell, a kick like that to the head when you are not expecting it will drop you like a bitch.
