need help 2003 140k miles was driving today and all the sudden i noticed the temp went all the way up and started sounding like a diesel tried to speed up so i could get over and had no acceleration at all opened hood and a big clound off steam came out was a burning smell but no actual smoke and everything under the hood looked a little damp

sounds simple enough,...steam, everything looked damp, .. how long have you had the X? Did you check to see if there was any coolant left in the radiator, busted hose, water pump, bad radiator cap, bad thermostat, water pump....... has the Timing Belt stuff been changed by 105K miles, or was it left go til now?
