Hello everyone, this is my first post. I'm glad to be part of the group.

I've got a rough idle and low power on my 04 auto 4x4 with 108k miles. I want to clean the MAF but don't know exactly what cleaner to use, I read somewhere that using the wrong stuff will harm it. Should I use fuel system cleaner or electronics parts cleaner.

I'm in Honduras so brand-name products of this nature won't exist. Thanks in advance!

You want MAF Cleaner.

Also - I noticed your mileage...did you already change the timing belt and water pump at 105k miles?

Probably not, I just bought it. That's on a list of things to do!

MAF cleaner, not sure if I can get that here. I just talked to a mechanic that said he would clean the MAF with carb cleaner.

Leave it dirty then...or later, you need a new MAF.

Can you get stuff mail order there?

lol it was a good test! I may let him check for vacumm leaks, ect.

I can get a lot of mail order stuff here because I work at an AF base. But, there are restrictions. I'm pretty sure that you can't send aerosol cans here. And coffee.

There was some electronics parts cleaner at the Texaco, and I'll ask around for some MAF cleaner. Maybe they'll have it. There's a language barrier.
