I've got the oil smoke from valve covers problem but if one of the gaskets fail how much oil can come out? Like drip, drip, drip when I stop? I've got a drip coming off the back bolt for the exhaust manifold. What above there would be leaking? Thanks!

That is most likely the valve covers... When my gaskets went bad I was actually losing 1 quart per month through the valve covers.. replaced mine at 180K and they were hard and brittle and had cracked in a couple different places... You'll need the valve cover gaskets , a plenum gasket (had to get mine from dealer like $6) also since you'll have to pull the plenum to change the valve cover gasket on the left side, it's a great opportunity to change the plugs hassle free. Number six plug is a breeze with the plenum out of the way =)

Just know the plenum can be quite the b!t(# to get off, namely the coolant hoses on the back side next to the firewall...

Good luck hope this helps

ummmm, I remember pulling my valve covers off without removing the plenum. I had to take a couple of items off going to the plenum, but not the plenum itself.

OK seriously how many hour job is it?
Would you do it again if you had to?
What's a fair amount to pay to have it done?

It took me 3.5 hours to do mine. When I did it I pulled the plenum, cleaned the valve covers and gasket surfaces, replaced the plugs and wires, replaced the distributor cap and rotor button, and put it all back together.
I asked the dealership about doing it and they said since they had to pull the plenum and all to change the valve covers I was looking somewhere around $300 in parts and labor...
Doing this job myself was definately worth it.
