I purchased a 2007 Xterra 7 months ago from a local dealer. At times I go to start the car and it will not start. I wait for a minute and try again and it will start. This happens every once in a while and I can't predict when it will happen.

Last Saturday I parked the car after driving it for 30 minutes. I had the car off for about 10 minutes. When I went to start the car, the engine felt like it was jolting and felt like it was going to drop out the bottom. I immediately turned off the car in fear. I waiting 5 min and tried again. It started but didn't sound normal but a slow start.

It worked fine after that. Now 3 days later I went to start my car again this morning and it was a slow start but started.

We live in Santa Barbara, Ca so it's not that cold.

Has anyone had issues like this before and can give me a hint to what this could be?

Thanks
Stacy

Without more info, I'd have to ask how is the terminals on the battery? Are they clean? Slow start sometimes versus "normal" start others sounds like a bad battery connection.
