Ok so I did the Seafoam treatment for the first time to my 03 xterra. Everything seemed to go ok, lots of white smoke! But after I turned the engine off and restarted it again my Check Engine light came on? I drove it around the block but the light was still on. Does this mean something bad?

Has this ever happened to anyone before that did the Seafoam treatment? Will the light eventually go out on it's own or did I really just screw up my xterra??? Thank you

odds are its an emission code, but hard to say what directly. you sent a bunch of smoke through your entire system, it may clean up itself, but getting the codes read would be a good idea. that way you know for sure where the problem is.

I waited for a buddy of mine to get home from work because he has a code reader. Started the x up and no check engine light. I'm going to assume that everything is ok with it and that it cleared itself. But i still might go over tmr and check it out. I'm just glad the light went out. Thanks guys

if there is no light, than there is no need to try to pull them.

Ahem... There's a lot of codes that don't throw the SES light.

Maybe worth checking them anyway. It wouldn't hurt. You may not find anything, but it may be better to know for sure...
