Hi..My husband just hit a deer on the highway with my 2000 Xterra. It was almost totalled. I just got it back from the collision repair shop and we keep setting off the alrm when we unlock the passenger side door - it only happens with the passenger side door. I haven't had a keyless remote in years and really thought I would have a new car by now, so I didn't want to waste money on a new remote. I always lock the door from the inside and unlock with the key. Now when we go to unlock from the passenger door, the alarm keeps going off. Any ideas? I have a call into the Collision Repair Shop. It is a 2000 XE 4x4 (so 11.5 years old, with almost 199,000 miles). The damage was to the front bumper, hood, passenger side panel but not including the passenger door, as well as some items underneath (AC condensor, some bar that runs across the car, etc). Thanks!

I don't know about older models, but my 06 X will always set itself off if you open a locked door without using the remote. You can ask my daughter who seems to wait until I have locked the doors to open hers. You might check with a dealer and see if this is something that can have its settings changed.

Thought I would finally follow up:

The Collision Repair Shop unhooked the sensor in the door to keep the alarm from going off, but it didn't work. I had them reconnect the sensor and the problem stopped. So either when they took the door off to repair it orginally or from the effects of the accident, the sensor must have come loose. All is well now.

Thanks!
