i heard that the biggest tires that could be put on a stock 2011 xterra was 265. is this true?
No - Its not even remotely true, its also not actually a tire size.
IF you meant 265/75/16, that's one of the STOCK tire sizes, not an upgrade to larger than stock.
ALL the 2005+ Xterra models have the same tire clearances, regardless of the tire they shipped with, for the PR, OR, S, etc...they can all fit the same sizes.
MOST people with your year get 285/75/16 for example as a small upgrade.
