Hi, Owner of a 2001 Xterra, 5 speed manual. Absolutely Love my 4x4 but I've run into an electrical problem. Blew out a 15 amp fuse located under the Hood. It took out the tail lights, parking lights, and dash lights. The lights for the temperature controls along with the radio will go off & on. The radio will stay on, but I will lose the sound. Replaced the fuse 3 x's and it just keeps blowing out. Wondering if anyone else had this problem or has any suggestions. Already had it to the dealer, but it has not been resolved yet. I have to take it back again when time permits. I think it sounds like a ground wire issue...but where to look(?) Thanks!

Check & see if your trailer lights connector is covered or open. If open, damp conditions can cause a short to blow your fuse.

I had the same situation, but found out it was the 3rd brake light wiring I ran to the tire carrier. The wire rubbed through the coating and kept shorting.

On another occasion it was the parking light connectors. I took the lights off & every time the connector got wet with the lights on, the fuse blew.

This forum is soooo cool...and I sure appreciate the advice. Probably saved me alot of $$$ at the dealer too...ps...I love this site...Lots of Info and Great Pics too!!
