Question,

I know a lot of you have 4x4's I was just wondering why do you have them? If you are in a 4x2 why? What made you pick one or the other??

Some of you in 4x2's because you wanted an X and didnt see the need??

4x2 because I don't do any hard off-roading. Not much of that in flat Louisiana. $2,000 is a lot to pay for something you'll never use.

My serious off road vehicle is also 2WD, but it's the only 2...MTB

4x4, because my farm is located 9 miles off any highway, and those 9 miles are trecherous when we get even half an inch of rain. I also use it to check cows on occasion, so I do some pasture crawling. Add fishing and hunting to that, and four wheel drive is almost a necessity.

4x4 for a couple of reasons.

1. I use it when camping and mountain biking

2. I got a better deal on the 4x4 than I could have on a 4x2 at the time and place of purchase.

4x4. My last vehicle was a 4x2, and my manhood was diminished.

I got a 4x2 because a 4x4 is not needed in urban south Florida, ... and they are hard to find down here anyway. Any impact on my manhood has been compensated by extra $$$ bulging my wallet (, which I keep in my front pocket).

4x2, because I never thought dreamt of going offroad until I found this place and got involved with my local club. Next X will certainly be a 4x4. Unless they make the OR 4x2 with a locker, then I might consider that to save a few grand.

4X4 5 speed
1. Always drove one.
2. Although, unless you are offroad, you may not use the 4X4 much, that ONE time in an emergency road condition that you MAY need to use it MORE than makes up for any cost.
3. Waited until the end of last year and bought one cheaper than most 4X2's.(No one around here wants a 5 speed either!!! Their loss..my treasure!!)
4. Would have bought the 4X4 regardless of cost!

My first X was a 4x2...right away, I regreted NOT getting the 4x4...for some reason, This vehicle cries out for Mud, Rocks, and Sand...traded my sissy 4x2 Xterra for the more versatile 4x4 Xterra...FUN..FUN..FUN..

4x4. Two words: Minnesota Winters

4x4, because if I was going to get a truck, it was going to be a 4x4. And we get a lot of snow in the winter and I use to drive a VW GTI and never could go anywhere in that. With the X I don't have to worry about the weather. I have actually used it a lot more than I thought I would.

I got a 2WD because I did'nt need the extra maintenance, less MPG's and slower acceleration.

My X is an OHV* about 98% of the time

4X4: Because I love 4X4ing.

4X4 - Ditto on the weather in SW Michigan. I didn't think I'd actually use it much when I got it, but I've used it a lot more than I thought. I actually look forward to snow now... (am I nuts?)

4X4 becouse i go deer hunting every year
in Wisconsin and I don't plow my place there
also 4x4 is very handy after big snow storm in Chicago,all my previous vehicles was 2 wheel drive
My next vehicle will also be Xterra 4 wheel drive

4x4 because i wanted to wheel it, also new england winters can get nasty, i can go to work and school, since my road doesnt get plowed, i can climb over the snowbanks while people are stuck at home, also i got a good deal on mine since no one wanted a 5spd Khaki xterra

i initially got the 4x4 since i figured it was better to have and not need than need it and not have it. also, price and mpg wasn't off from the 4x2. and thanks to xoc, off roading has become one of my favorite hobbies.

You're already lugging around 700+ pounds that are USELESS because your vehicle is a 4x2.

An Xterra is a rugged vehicle designed for offroad use. That creates a lot of extra weight that you won't find in a CR-V or a Santa Fe.

People who drive an X because they want a cooler looking grocery getter than an Equinox are just wasting gas.....

OK, I'll bite. Look Jeff, It's all a waste of gas. We are Americans, we buy toys we don't need. I don't need my Xterra, I bought it to drive around in a vehicle that I think looks cool - yep - and I do buy groceries in it. What should I get, a corvette that has a big ass LS2 engine, it wastes gas. I know you need 4 wheel drive in CO, but when you go 4 wheeling for fun, do you waste gas? Sure you do, but you want to because you want to burn up fossil fuels doing something you like to do but isn't necessary and is wasting gas, so what, it's all good. I don't need 4 wheel drive, I like the Xterra looks and room inside, none of us "need" an Xterra. Its all OK though we are all different and like diffferent things, different hobbies and things we waste money on.

4x4 because it has a better resale value, and more demand.

Have no use for a 4x4. Most off roading I do is a gravel driveway to my house.

4x2 because the negative equity on my trade in made the 4x4 alot of $$ I'll have as much fun as I can in this one ( and probably learn to drive better) but the next one will be the real deal.
